It already is. California SB 1449 was passed and signed by Schwarzenegger. This makes possession of less than an ounce an infraction (like a traffic ticket is) instead of a misdemeanor.
Prop 19 does not decriminalize it. It legalizes marijuana. The two terms are different and do not mean the same thing.

-It’s actually still a misdemeanor, punishable by a $100 if you have ID. If you don’t have ID, they can arrest, but won’t if you produce ID.
