why can’t marijuana be made into a pill?
I don’t understand if it is used for medicinal purposes that it isn’t made into a medically dispensible product like all other medicines. I would think the drug companies would be working on it. Everyone knows smoking is unhealthy, but a doctor would prescribe it? If it were a pill maybe the ones “lighting up” wouldn’t be interested. Or would going to the pharmacy to get “high” be the next step.
Good point. I think the closest thing to a pill is marijuana brownies.
It does.

They are. It’s called a “THC” pill, it takes THC the active ingredient in cannabis (marijuana) that gives the high, calms nerves and dulls pain and put it into pill form.
It’s FDA approved actually.
However, it’s much more expensive then just smoking the marijuana. It’s better to just use a vaporizer as it minimizes the lung cancer risk and it’s less expensive then buying pills every month. It’s unnessasary.
Marinol is availalbe.
No one wants marinol because its crap. Its only thc, not the other cannabanoids in marijuana. The fda claims its been reformated to prevent a high, but it does still produce a type of high – sort of like being numbed out, and left me emotionless. It is not as effective as an anti enemic, pain reliever and anxiety reliever as real marijuana.
Here is the kicker, its been pantented and is sold at every pharmacy for about $1500. The amount for 1500$ is roughly equal to about 50$ of real marijuana. If the fda, ama, and dea actually cared about getting good meds out, wouldnt they just skip the patent on this one since its an easily grown plant, and produce pharmaceutical grade marijuana?? No, instead they just trumped all the drug dealers by turning the highest profit margin on marijuana.
Marijuana being illegal is about $$$ and has been the entire time. These people make FAR more money with mj being illegal than they ever would legal. I mean, lets not forget marijuana was criminalized because cotton and paper were afraid of industrial hemp – something that has no recreational value. Before it was criminalized, marijuana was available as a med over the counter, kids could and did buy it. Farmers were required to grow it. People used it socially and recreationally
So, while the fda, dea, and ama scream that marijuana is never and can never be medicine because its smoked, they scream about how damaging marijuana is, including thc. Then they synthesize thc, and patent it. Its hypocrtical bs. Either marijuana is medicine, or its not. Being smoked has nothing to do with it because no doc recommends smoking – they all recommend edibles or vaporizing.
But, synthesized and patented is the only way they can make money off it. In reality, it should be legal, over the counter, and cost as much as tylonal. And it should be real marijuana, not a synthesized pill. Cooking real marijuana into food is no different than using any other herb or ingredient with pharmaceutical effects. There are no carcinogens in non smoked marijuana. The most dangerous part would be that its a raw plant that contains bacteria, fungi and likely chemicals from the growing process, just like an apple straight off the tree.
People ALREADY go to the pharmacy to get high. Last I checked vicodin is quite a bit more narcotic than thc. So is morphine, ativan, xanax, oxycontin, phengran, companzine – those are all narcotics that are FAR more impairing than marijuana, all of which come from the pharmacy. Those few are just a tiny fraction of what is at the pharmacy, and thats just rx. I mean, the over the counter aisle is a gold mine to someone who just wants to get high. Triple C. Robo trippin. Lets not forget the legal speed in weight loss supplements. NO one cares about whether or not patients get high with med marijuana, especially when what they were on before was morphine or ativan or xanax. There is NO way you can convince me that anyone cares about patients getting high with all those narcotics being passed out and available both rx and otc. When someone pulls morphine because it makes you high, I *might* believe they care about getting high. When kids are no longer given speed that they just go sell to their friends, I might believe they care about patients getting high. When I go to the er because of stomach pains that are the most severe I have ever had and they just hand me drugs instead of finding out whats causing the pain, I dont believe they care about patients getting high. I have ibs, and was having a pretty severe attack when that happened, but didnt know it at the time. The doctors I saw that night are NOT the ones who diagnosed me. Gave me an iv shot of dilaudid while i was there, and sent me home with a bunch of vicodin.
…..
In addition, it would be difficult for those agencies to explain why they have fought so hard against real marijuana. Even though marinol is available, for the most part the only people that know about it are doctors and patients that have actually had it.
To a point, they already face those questions. For example, people who have believed the dea lies are asking why the fda and ama are supporting thc based pills but not marijuana. Especially when they have preached for decades that thc causes brain damage and mem loss and other supposed negative side effects (all of which is bs, and came about because of very biased studies)
Today, they answer that by mostly pointing to the differences in smoking, and a pill is a measured dose that is safe. On the other hand, they try to make the med mj movement look bad by stating no one wants marinol because its been “reformulated to not produce a high”. Basically, telling everyone if these people were legit, they would want a pill that doesnt get them high. But when the pill costs so much more, and the med you were on before left you higher?????? Whats their REAL reasons??????
there are concentrated formulas… Cannabis is a good medicine but there is a lot of money in other pharmaceuticals, a lot of u.s. money at that, it protects our interest not to legalize, it creates jobs in police, pharmaceuticals, oil ( fords first model t car ran off of hemp oil), paper, clothing and medicine… the war on pot is more a war on hemp than anything..
