Why Buy Hemp?
Hemp is a fantastic product. As a food source hemp is second to none offering a complete source of protein and one of the highest concentrations of polyunsaturated fats (helping to reduce cholesterol and heart disease), as well as the best balance of the Essential Fatty Acids. It is also a brilliant beauty product with the perfect skin absorbency rate, making it a good choice for any one with dry skin or in need of some skin softening. Getethical really wants to encourage consumers to use hemp. We will be regularly reviewing hemp products, especially unusual and innovative uses of hemp and welcome suggestions from consumers and suppliers -if you have any suggestions for reviews please get in touch with us. Please note we receive no payment from the suppliers and producers of these products and our reviews are completely independent.

BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Canolio Beauty Products
Lucie L’tourneau, created Canolio while working on her MBA in biotechnology management. With Canolio she applies the principle of biochemistry to her lovely range of beauty products -the most fantastic we have ever come across. All products are GM free, contain no perfume and involve no animal testing. Hemp oil, according to L’tourneau and other experts, is the only plant-derived oil with the perfect rate of nutrients and compounds for the body to absorb, and is also packed with antioxidants and linoleic acids to help maintain healthy skin.
We tried:
Canolio Hemp Bath Oil
We are converts and could recommend this oil ad nauseam -it really is good. Not only does it smell wonderful, but it really does rehydrate your skin, leaving it feeling fresh and smooth. Our testers all said this was, without doubt, the best bath oil they had ever used. The oil is especially good for dry skin and one could imagine regular use would work wonders. Sheer luxury and, as with all the Canolio products, beautifully and minimally packaged. Active ingredients: Hemp Oil, Sunflower Oil, Bitter Orange Oil, Tangerine Oil.
Canolio’s Hemp Body Milk
Lovely lavender scent that lingers for hours. The body milk really does soften and moisturise your skin. Again highly recommended. All Canolio products are beautifully presented and would make excellent gifts. Active ingredients: Hemp Oil, Lavender essential oil, Rosewood essential oil.
Hand Made Soaps by Sara Phillips
natural soap
Sara Phillips soaps are divine. Made in Norfolk, UK, all soaps are made using a cold-process technique (no boiling of soap or addition of chemicals). The ingredients include purified water, edible-grade olive oil, coconut and palm as well as nutrients such as shea butter and essential oils for scent. Although we only tried her hemp soap we can imagine all her soaps are just as good.
We tried:
Hemp Soap
The hemp soap contains essential fatty acids, vitamins and enzymes that are easily absorbed by the skin. We found it very rich and moisturising and would definitely recommend it for people with sensitive skins. Very pretty packaging makes this a lovely gift as well as a real treat to use.
Manitoba Harvest
hemporer
We met these guys at a natural product fair- not only are they lovely people, passionate about their products, but their range is extremely good. All Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods & Oils are grown without herbicides or pesticides, using non-genetically modified and contain no additives or preservatives and are gluten free. Manitoba Harvest Hemp Seed Oil Lovely rich cold pressed green oil containing a good balance of Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids. Hemp oil is a natural source of GLA (3%) and the richest source of the Essential Fatty Acids (76%) and is a rich source of GLA (3%). GLA is especially good for the elderly who become essential fatty acid deficient as they age and the high level of Polyunsaturated fats have been shown to be beneficial for the prevention of heart disease.
This oil has a mild nutty flavour making it perfect for salad dressings, soups and sauces. It can also be used as cooking oil as long as the recipe does not require heating about 160c. We have tried a number of hemp oil and can honestly say the Manitoba one is streets ahead. It is also the darkest green hemp oil we have come across and this is due to the high content of chlorophyll. Because of the low-temperature processing, the chlorophyll is not destroyed.
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Seed Nut
Hmm, Hemp seeds! I had actually long been put off hemp seeds, after my health food cafe introduced them in a compulsory way to all their salads and lunches. Despite the cafes enthusiasm I found them extremely bitter. So it was with some trepidation I tried the Manitoba seed nuts. I found they had a really pleasant and almost addictive nutty flavour – the nuts can be sprinkled on soups, salads, put in sandwiches or just eaten on their own. Not only delicious but very healthy, an excellent source of the Essential Fatty Acids, amino acids and GLA.
