With all of the research out there disproving “old-fashioned” beliefs surrounding marijuana use, as well advocating it’s benefits…why are people still so ignorant to this issue? What will it take in order to educate the public about the FACTS surrounding pot?

As long as there are conservatives, there will be an issue.
What benefits? It numbs pain, dulls the senses, and increases appetite. Those are the only reasons that the THC is useful medicinally.
Marijuana is still a bunch of burning leaves that you inhale, unfiltered. Do you burn a pile of autumn leaves, then stick your head in the smoke and inhale deeply?
Fear is the issue, nothing more nothing less.
It’s a “mind-altering” drug. Habitual marijuana users are not called “stoners” and “potheads” because they become super intelligent under the influence. Quite the contrary! The potency of marijuana is 15-20 times stronger than in was 20 years ago so thus the effects are more damaging and more addictive. Marijuana users are more likely to go on to experiment and use other illegal drugs. Not is only is the mind affected, but it increases heart pressure and a decreases the level of testosterone. This can particularly affect a developing fetus and also the growth and sexual development of a male in adolescence.
There is nothing “old-fashioned” about these details. The only ones ignorant are those who use and sell these drugs to our loved ones. There is a direct link to drug abusers and a decline in our society.
if you buy pot on the street chances are its got a whole bunch of $hit in it that is not safe. VERY rarely do you just get pure weed
The vast majority of people only know what they see on TV or other media outlets. It doesn’t help that all the marijuana info on the news or ads is propaganda. Also people love to get excited about sensational urban legends. The Internet helps but the same groups are online too.
Groups like DARE and PDFA get kids when they are young and drive the lies into them. Politicians lie their balls off too.
Almost half of North Americans have tried pot and found out for themselves first hand that it doesn’t lead to other drugs, is not addictive, etc. There’s lots of science that shows how safe and useful marijuana is but it’s not the cover story so no one sees it.
Your guess is as good as mine for educating the public but it needs to be done.
