who should be elected for California’s state governor?
i think Jerry Brown because of these reasons:
Democratic Party. Liberal standard bearer. California attorney general. Former Oakland mayor. Former California governor 1975-1983. 40-year career politician. Gun control advocate. Opposes marijuana legalization. Anti-Prop 8. Anti-Prop 23. Environmentalist who supports Global Warming Act (AB 32).
but honestly i despise all the candidates. they are all liars in my perspective, its never truly about the state’s issues anymore. =/
I dislike them both, but I think Jerry Brown is kind of a creep. I wouldn’t say him being a career politician is something that should be in his favor. That just shows he has had a long time to be immoral and learn how to work the system. Doesn’t mean he’s any good. Meg Whitman has her faults too. It’s a tough one…
cheech or chong
Beyond any doubt – Brown. He’s a brillant, experienced politician with integrity. Whitman, on the other hand is a lying, hypocritical, corporate whore.
I’m with you on “Governor Moonbeam”—I like Jerry Brown. He has the experience and he is, as you say, a Democrat. The candidates for the right-wing side in any of the races are, let’s face it, too NUTTY for me…just completely BONKERS!
California got into budget trouble as far back as 2003, with the gas and oil prices spiked to more than $5 a gallon almost overnight after the illegal invasion of Iraq, even though there was a GLUT of reserves. The BIG-OIL companies and the oilmen in the White House made a financial KILLING in just the first quarter of the year and every subsequent quarter period thereafter, but ordinary citizens and small businesses maxed out credit cards and spent all their savings or retirement funds just to get gas to and from work. Prices rose due to higher shipping costs, and tourist travel fell to barely a TRICKLE, so states like California that rely on those tourist dollars and also holiday spending each year in order to balance their budgets were left in the lurch! Schwartzeneggar did the wrong thing—he cut jobs in a desparate attempt to balance the budget and, in so doing, also cut down on consumer spending and tax revenues from those paychecks. Republicans are simply NOT any good with the budget so long as they stick to the whole deregulation-supply side route.
I think Jerry Brown’s the right choice for California governor.
Sylvester Stallone.
I don’t like Meg Whitman, but she supports limited government and that is great. Anyone who thinks that spending less and cutting taxes will stimulate the economy has my vote on the state level. Also, since the Dems will likely win the state house and senate, there absolutely needs to be some gridlock by a Republican governor. This will ensure fair redistricting and more compromise on such things as the debt and budget.
Juan, you make a good argument against Brown Meg Whitman isn’t any of those things that you just said about Brown.
Whitman
Looking at what we have been going through the past 100 years. The “experienced” politicians are usually the most corrupt. The liberals have decimated California. Find somebody that knows how to make a budget, but doesn’t find the need to impose their will on the people. They’re out there. Jerry Brown had his shot. Same with John Kitzhaber in Oregon. He destroyed Oregon. Higher unemployment. Horrible schools. Yet we’ll probably elect him again because he has “experience”. What “experience” are we looking for? Get people back to work, then worry about your failed gun control policies and ignorant Global Warming theories that are based and pure fallacy and corruption.
The only one qualified for governor is Jerry Brown. Meg Whitman is a lost cause…
The experience of Jerry Brown is the exact reason why I’m not voting for him. He was a TERRIBLE governor of California. I remember those years when he was and it was a disaster. I wonder how many people on here who say he is experienced and should be governor were around at the time he was governor. He had his chance to show he could govern and he failed. I’m not willing to give him a second chance
