I’m in favor of reform of the laws. Some of the laws regarding marijuana are downright ridiculous. There are actually people serving shorter prison sentences for committing murder than some drug crimes.
I think the laws against marijuana should stay the same. If someone gets caught in possession of marijuana and all they have to do is pay a fine every time they get caught, they are really not learning that marijuana is illegal. same as someone who refuses to wear a seat. if they go to jail enough for it, maybe it will change there mind about it.
I would be in favor of decriminalizing all drugs. Our war on drugs has cost us trillions and accomplished nothing except crowding our prisons. It’s the same as prohibition of alcohol. It didn’t stop people drinking, it just made it expensive, made millions for the criminals that provided it, and killed people who bought some of the bad booze. Same with drugs today. Decriminalize it, tax it, sell it in liquor stores and treat it much as we do alcohol. At least we’d be making tax money on it rather than spending tax money on it.
