Where is a good place to obtain information about owning/operating a medical marijuana dispensary in Oregon?
My girlfriend and I are interested in obtaining as much information as possible about owning/operating a medical marijuana dispensary or growing for the dispensaries in the state of Oregon. These are our dream jobs.

Oregon’s Medical Marijuana Act does not allow for dispensaries. “There is no place in the State of Oregon to legally purchase medical marijuana.”
Here’s the broad strokes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Medical_Marijuana_Act
and you’ll probably want to check here too: http://www.oregon.gov
Oregon does not have dispensary’s set up yet. Petitions are going around to have that set for a vote. A patient must find a grower on their own for now at no cost to the patient. I’m a patient now in Oregon & would be against a dispensary system. Why would I go buy it when I get it for free now?
Even though some of the answers here are technically correct, they are leaving out a lot of information.
To grow medical marijuana you do need a person with a medical marijuana card to designate you as a caregiver. When they do this, you then will be able to grow marijuana at the designated site (your house if you want to) and have a certain number of plants in different growth stages. Off the top of my head I believe the number is 6 mature and 6 immature plants per patient.
Now it is true you cannot charge the patient for marijuana, but they can compensate you a reasonable amount for your out of pocket expenses. There is no real way around this and most likely you will lose some money.
Now lets talk about how it really works. If you can grow some good marijuana and can get a person with an OMMC to designate you as a provider then you grow them the medicine. But the dumb ass government has no real clue on how much medicine a grower can get from a high quality marijuana plant. And you will be able to far exceed the yield that the patient will ever need. Even with keeping a “back-up” supply for the patient in case of disastrous harvest, you can still end up with an overabundance of product left over. Yeah sure you are still operating illegally, but far safer then not providing medicine for a patient. The government knows this goes on and mainly looks the other way.
Now the other option is to open a medical marijuana club. This is where you charge a membership fee but the medicine is free. Two of these have opened in Portland recently with no repercussions.
With all that said, you are probably too late because marijuana prohibition will soon come to and end in Oregon. My guess is whiten two years at the longest.
On NORML.org, it gives you a good description of the laws in your state about MJ and what you can and cannot do with it.
you can also search “how to start a medical dispensary (in oregon)”, there are a good amount of articles up on how to start your own. Plus, it would be similar to that of simply starting a business.
