After police and Feds seize drugs from the big time dealers. where exactly do they take it? Is there a central vault or any hidden evidence room that it goes to? How about for local police who confiscate it?
Right before it’s incinerated is it stored somewhere specific? It’s for a fiction story, which I should have mentioned before.

After the trial, it goes up in smoke. Quite literally. It is incinerated.
Most confiscated drugs get destroyed and a very small amount gets stolen or used by cops that have access to the evidence room.
Confiscated money gets deposited and is used for citizen welfare.

After it is no longer needed for evidence it is usually destroyed. In most cases it is burned.
In NYC the marijuana goes to the property clerk within its respective borough. Once the case is finalized it’s placed with other finalized narcotic evidence and is burned at Rodmans Neck in the Bronx.
My city. It is stored in the secure evidence building(s). They are multi story warehouses. After being photographed (if a very large amount), weighing and a small random sample is taken for testing by lab personnel.
Just put in sealed evidence bags on a shelf if small enough or in crates if large amounts. Each is kept separately. Same places and same way we store anything. valuable or not. We store gold, diamonds, art work and old shoes. All the same.
Drugs are not stored long. Most after losing their motion to suppress the seizure plead guilty. Full amount only kept if there is to be a jury trial since it impresses the rubes to see lots of packages. Otherwise once a month taken to local plasma furnaces and burned. Virtually no smoke.
It is incinerated by process… or the police could use the evidence as a bait to lure drug addicts,gangs,and all those people to jail
Some cities are mulching it into landfill…mixing it with bio-compost.
