Males produce pollen. Females produce bud. If you grow the two together the pollen is released into the air during flowering and lands on the bud and produces a seed in said bud. Like a human sperm reaching an egg creating a baby. Simple as that.
@Rita: A male plant doesn’t produce bud at all. If you’re referring to what the pollen comes in, smoking that wouldn’t get you high. Males only contain less than 1% thc.
You can smoke the bud on them, but it’s pretty much not worth it unless you’ve got nothing else to smoke. It is very weak. Male plants will also produce pollen which can be used to propagate seeds in a female plant. Female plants produce sets of white hairs coming out of the buds, male plants produce little ball-like sacs.
The male MJ plant is worthless.
It is similar to the hemp plant in that it is good for rope. It does give off pollen. Which most growers do not want because that is when a female would produce seeds.
