Marijuana is still illegal, some states might not press charges, but it is still against federal law.
You would fail a drug test, and any employer that has employees in other states would not be inclined to hire you and drug rules are usually corporate wide.
Most MMJ doctors and dispensaries as well as the process of getting your card are very confidential. You may only divulge if you chose to, or if for some reason the company that hires you tells you that they need a drug test. If for some reason you cant smoke while working there, you can always stop, and then dont have to divulge any medicine you were previously on.
although it is illegal on a federal level, if you live in a state that permits it, any business within said state would most likely permit the use of medicinal marijuana.
however, i would not recommend mentioning it to your boss/interviewer. If you fail a drug test, providing proof of prescription would be all you need
In California, even if you are legal medical marijuana user, the status of your job after a drug test is up to the employer. Unfortunately this is murky legal waters, things need to be updated. Many employers in medical states are not concerned with employees legally using medical marijuana, but there is nothing to legally stop them from firing you.
Good luck with your treatment. If your doctor recommended marijuana, that is a good reason to give it a try. It may help.
Most medical states have organizations that support legal medical marijuana users and such an organization may be of great assistance to you.
