What do you think about the proposition to legalize marijuana in California?
In California this November, there will be a proposition to legalize marijuana to help with the state’s budget deficit. What are your thoughts on this proposition? How likely is it to pass?
The proposition is mainly to help get our state out of our billion dollar deficit, not necessarily to push drugs upon the public.

not likely!
Bad idea – people who want marijuana will get it regardless of whether it’s legal or not, so why legalise it when people who didn’t use it will now try it.
I think it will probably fail. I do not see how legalizing marijuana could possibly be a significant help with the budget deficit — wishful thinking on your part I believe.
A better approach would be to trim the budget of a lot of wasteful or unnecessary spending.
I don’t buy the claim that people will try who don’t smoke it will suddenly start trying it just because it’s legalised.
I don’t smoke cannabis, that’s not because it’s illegal, it’s because I believe it would be damaging to my health. Same reason I don’t smoke crack or inject heroin, and the same reason why I don’t smoke tobacco. If the British government legalised heroin tomorrow I wouldn’t be shooting up on Monday morning. I don’t give a damn about the legality, I don’t want to fubar my health. And I’m not arrogant enough to believe I’m the only one with that level of sense.
I say legalise it for adults and let them make a decision for themselves. I choose not to risk my health my using it, but if others are willing to do so then that’s their right, as long as they don’t smoke around me it’s none of my damn business. And really, if I had to have someone smoke around me I’d rather it was cannabis, I find the smell less repulsive.
Personally, I think legalization is a good idea. And it may very well pass in California. Whether it is legal, or not, people that want to smoke pot are going to smoke it. The advantage to legalization, is that it can be regulated and TAXED, producing income for the state in the same way that tobacco and alcohol taxes help the state. One must also think of those in jail or prison for marijuana related crimes. Think of the savings to the Dept. of Corrections if some jail space is freed up because they release those charged with marijuana related crimes.
IMO, legalization will not cause more smokers, just as an end to Prohibition did not cause more alcoholics. During Prohibition, alcohol was illegal to possess, drink, manufacture, etc. However, people still knew where to go to get their booze, if they wanted it. The current marijuana laws remind me of the past alcohol Prohibition in the early 20th century. People that want it, can get it, will smoke it, legal or not.
I say all states should follow California’s example. I do think the proposition will pass. Legalize it, tax it, benefit from it.
i hope it does not pass, will they stop at marijuana what would be next.
I think its a great Idea
Nuts, Fruits, and Herbs all in one place, maybe they will be able to come up with their own bread instead of the rest of the U.S. paying out welfare.
I think that would be the best thing to do. If you legalized marijuana your country would get more cash flowing in.
But, when i told someone that, they said it’s not worth it because the government/country will be paying a lot in medical.. after years of smoking pot
