Well i mean voting NO on prop 19
1) IT will be even easier for teens to consume it
2) Probably a Tax increase
3)you are voting for new cannabis crimes
4)The walmartization’ of cannabis by large corporations.
How will Prop 19 affect you?
• Are you age 18-20? You will not be allowed to consume cannabis legally under Prop 19. Currently, all you need is a medical recommendation to do so.
• Do you interact with anyone under age of 21? You will be looking at up to 6 months in jail for passing them a joint. (If the person is under 18 you will be looking at up to 7 years in prison.)
• Do you live in the same “space” and a minor? (Space could mean anything from the same house to an entire apartment complex.) You will not be allowed to consume cannabis.
• Do you rent your home? Prop 19 will only allow you to grow cannabis if you have permission from your landlord. Due to the risks involved, many (if not most) California landlords do not allow it. How is this legalization?
• Do you grow cannabis with a doctor recommendation? Prop 19 will likely be interpreted by law enforcement and judges to limit your grow space to 5′x5′.
• Do you provide your extra medical cannabis to dispensaries? It will be a crime to do so if Prop 19 passes. In addition, large Oakland growers and tobacco companies will take control of the market and push you out.
• Do you currently have to use your medical cannabis anywhere but home? Prop 19 will prevent patients from using their medicine anywhere in pubic. Which for many people with illnesses is not always possible.
• Do you sell your extra medical cannabis to other medical patients? Prop 19 will make this practice illegal. Even if you are only selling it to cover your growing cost.
• Do you currently enjoy the use of cannabis free from Government interference? Not only will the Government impose excessive taxes under Prop 19, but the federal government will likely respond with unprecedented action against California cannabis users. “The federal Controlled Substances Act makes it a felony to grow or sell cannabis. California can repeal its own marijuana laws, leaving enforcement to the feds. But it can’t legalize a federal felony. Therefore, any grower or seller paying California taxes on marijuana sales or filing pot-related California regulatory paperwork would be confessing, in writing, to multiple federal crimes.”
1. The taxes are pretty voluntary do you really think pot heads are going to voluntarily pay the tax?
2. The people who are already growing it have no problem breaking the law to do so and will continue to do it the way they are. passage of proposition 19 will just make it more difficult for law enforcement to file charges against those who do not grow it or use it with in the law.
3. Weed does contain carcinogenic hydrocarbons. You can find out more information about that Government web sites. Carcinogenic hydrocarbons are hydrocarbons that cause cancer.
4. Pot is a depressant. That is why it’s so great at treating the symptoms of anxiety. Prolonged use can lead to manic depression.
5. It slows down your reaction time and will impact peoples ability to drive a vehicle. Making it legal will increase it’s usage and availability meaning more people will be driving impaired. There will be almost no way to test for it too. As they don’t Breathalyzers for marijuana use.
6. It does damage to the brain look up an EKG image of a persons brain who has heavily used pot through out their life. Then compare it to a EKG image of a person who hasn’t.
7. Though it’s already going on more people will self medicate with it to treat anxiety. Though it is good at treating the symptoms it doesn’t treat the cause of anxiety. This is very similar to using alcohol to treat anxiety. It only works when the chemical is active in the brain (you’re high) that means as wears off your anxiety will come right back and you’ll have to smoke again. This one puts you on emotional roller coaster and 2 leads to dependency on the Drug. The roller coaster is because the THC is not at stable steady levels.
8. It has higher amounts of tar then Tobacco products do. Tar is the main cause of emphysema.
is that enough or do you need more?
Since the other answers are flawed, I’ll do my best to give my insight and opinion on the bill.
My reasons are not to go against Marijuana, but against the bill.
1. There will be new and higher restrictions on weed than there is now, with it being decriminalized.
2. Taxes from it will NOT go to education and health care, it will go to law enforcement
3. You can not smoke ANYWHERE near a minor, even in your own home
4. There is a bill in 2012 that will legalize weed AND industrialize hemp
5. Marijuana will become a product to major corporations.
6. Medical Marijuana patients could possibly be negatively affected by the reform laws.
7. There are more laws and consequences that come with Prop 19 than there is now.
8. Law enforcement would have to go back to focusing on marijuana laws because now they have to make sure 18-20 year olds aren’t smoking, as well as underage kids.
Some Pros:
1. Crime rates will go down because the drug cartel will be gone
2. More and better studies and tests can be done to research marijuana
3. Taxes will bring in more revenue to the state
4. Less people will be charged and put into jail for smoking a joint.
5. Weed is better than alcohol and cigarettes. The Marijuana prohibition is a failure and it’s getting old and wasting our tax dollars.
Just to name a few things. The accusations of marijuana have rarely been proven, the medical and all around benefits outweigh any bad.
