Prostitution is not a victimless crime.
I dont smoke marijuana, i dont gamble nor do i go out looking for prostitutes, Its how the U.S. runs things they make people concentrate on stupid little things like kids smoking marijuana, to get peoples eyes off of the bigger picture and the problems this country is truly facing. In my opinion smoking marijuana should not be illegal, Alcohol is legal and causes much more deaths but noone pays attention to that. Gambling who cares its people gambling their own money no one else is being hurt from it, and prostitution, if someone is forced into prostitution i believe the govt shall intercede but if a male/female wants to sell their bodies what makes it such a big deal? ive been to many other countries that deal with the bigger spectrum of things and get problems solved rather than think about all this little junk so much.
I think all of those mentioned should be LEGAL.
Prostitution IS a victimless crime. Whats not is the human slave trade industry, sexual assault and rape – crimes that prostitutes cant report very well. American victims of the human slave trade cant even take advantage of some of the laws set up to protect victims of the slave trade, because you cant be trafficked if never left the country. Prostitution is a choice and if I can choose to kill me baby, its crazy that I cant choose to have sex. If I can have sex with someone I dont know from the bar that I have never met, never std tested etc after a night of making them buy me drinks and stuff… Its crazy that I cant have sex with someone I have checked out, know is std free, and just be upfront about wanting something in return instead of making you buy stuff all night.
In general, I see the problems that the black markets create. All the violence going on with marijuana is a result of the societal factors like the laws, NOT the substance itself. Black markets are bad for drugs because the purity and quality go on a downward spiral. Black markets are cut throat, too, since there isnt a nice cop to go to for regulation when one party does something unfiar. If drug addiction is the concern and cause for criminal charges, then that is bs. Addiction is a medical disease NOT a crime, and mj isnt physically addictive. Blanket drug legalization would make it easier for people to get help when they need it (they wont be afraid of getting arrested or loosing their job so they may actually ask for help), and needle exchange programs would regulate spread of diseases Many sex workers CANT report when they have been the victim of a crime without putting themselves in further danger. Legalization could also add std regulation, mandatory health care for sex workers.
