Should marijuana be legalized in the states?
I honestly think marijuana should at least be legalized in the states cause it’s not nearly as bad compared to meth, cocaine or heroin and it’s not even as harmful as alcohol in my opinion.
I would rather be around somebody who occassionally smokes pot over somebody who is a heavy duty alcoholic anyday and what it gets to me is that alcohol is legal and marijuana isn’t.
Does marijuana make you become violent and beligerent? I don’t think so, does marijuana make you go out and steal from other people like the heavy drugs do? I don’t think so.
I think that marijuana should be treated like cigarettes and they should be available at the liquor stores, I think they should only sell up to 2 ounces of marijuana per person if they do sell them at the liquor stores.
NO, because ppl would use it twice as much……imagine if it was legal….yea right
You have put some thought into this huh? I don’t necessarily think it should be legalized but I do think liquor and cigs especially are just as bad or worst.
Yes it should be legalized and imo, we will probably see it legalized in our lifetimes. I don’t know a single person under 35 years old who thinks it should remain illegal. When the people who are young now start running the government we will probably see it legalized or at the very least decriminalized. I’m thinking we’ll see this happen within about 20 years.
I agree…
Legalize……Happy Holidays !!
Nope
Yes, because pot is no different, than booze, cigs, porn, bingo games, we all have vices, and its not the governments job to control a substance that is as dangerous a cig if you smoke weed like you do Marlboro. Weed legalization would save a lot of taxpayer dollars, and free up police departments to enforce traffic law, and allocate resource to real social problem instead of Joe average toker getting stoned for the last 40 years.
I think that YES it should be.
it’s not really as bad a cigarettes.
pot is not addictive
yes…
alcoholism is the real problem in America
marijuana is an reasonable vice
NO, NO, & NO
How about we be around people who never do anything that impairs their judgement….WOW I wonder what kind of world would that be. Look, I have been around people who have done marijuana, alcohol, and other substances. None, I repeat, NONE of them are any good. Why do we need something that alters your thinking, abilities, or changes you in any shape or form?????
I agree. I don’t smoke marijuana but think it should be legalized. Think of how much money the government would save/make.
1 The government spends loads of money to try and prevent people from using marijuana. With advertisements and all.
2 the government has to spend tax money to build new prison’s, because so many people get arrested for possession.
3 Government could tax it similar to how they tax tobacco and alcohol, so they could potentially make Millions maybe even more.
4 police could spend time actually helping people rather than trying to bust people for smoking a little marijuana every now and then.
5 could create new jobs and stimulate the economy with people buying and selling.
I can see your point but I work in Mental Health and whether its because the dope here (in Australia) is more potent, although of course, I doubt it, but many people come to us with marijuana addictions which they say exacerbate other social problems they have…. THC is a very powerful drug and some strains of weed are that strong they can be actually lethal, the first generation of some weed grown can not be smoked!!! That is a fact!!! If “you” compare it to alcohol I agree Maryjane seems less harmful but I’m sorry I do not agree with your arguement because the dope grown these days is designed and manufactured, its not the same weed as my generation smoked in the 60s…
Wouldn’t you rather be around somebody who’s not on drugs at all? Just because it’s a less evil drug doesn’t make it right. I at one time smoked every single day and also thought it should be legalized. I’m past my partying years and can finally see things clearly. Alcohol should be illegal as well but hey, no way that will ever happen. It’s the tool by which many of us were born. Good luck with your cause though. It’s been around for a long time.
.
I think that it should be legalized (up to an ounce) and like your saying marijuana isn’t nearly as dangerous as alcohol, cocaine, meth and heroin and it can actually be a good stress reliever, I cannot stand alcoholics and like you’re saying I’ll definitely be around people who smokes pot over drinking lots of alcohol anyday 🙂
In my county (mendocino, Ca) it is legal to grow 25 plants for personal use if you’re a resident. Measure G–I voted yes. God bless America.
Yes..
The only reason it isn’t is because of the power held by pharmaceutical companies. Ask a cancer patient which they would rather use Marijuana or the Oxycontin.
The statement “the war on drugs is not working” is almost a masterpiece of understantement. Regardless of one’s personal feelings or beliefs about using marijuana, chances are that someone you know or close to someone you know has started using harder drugs because of drug testing policies. Marijuana remains detectable for far too long for people to risk losing their jobs. So they just pop some pills or snort some powder, because by Monday morning, or thereabout. thoses substances won’t show up in the urine tests while marijuana would. You can’t make people stop getting high, and by denying them the relatively benign effects of smoking pot, they are seeking out more dangerous ways to get high. Someone is arrested in this country every minute for marijuana. Please show me the benefits of putting a non-violent, non-larcenous person in jail with robbers, rapists, murderers, burglars, etc. Though legalization may be too much to ask, decriminalization of marijuana would go a long way to lessening young people’s use of harder drugs and also help them avoid the many negative results of being broken on the cogs of an undeniably brutal and reform-hungry penal system.
YES, the gov. can tax it and make a fortune and we can all party and people will be mellow and happy and my temper will subside and i will stop speeding on the hwy
