Should Marijuana be legalized in California? Or any state for that matter?
Marijuana is now being considered to be legalized in California like it is in Portugal and the Netherlands. It will be treated like alcohol and people 21 or over can possess, smoke, or grow marijuana. It will be taxed and many beleive this tax can pull California out of debt. What do u think?

no.
YES!!!!!! YES IT SHOULD BE LEGALIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which makes more sense, spending the type of money the U.S. does to arrest and house those who smoke it, or legalize something that obviously millions of Americans already use so it may be taxed and spending the money used now on policing it for other uses?
I don’t believe in it, but, I don’t think it should be so easy for people to get alchohol and get drunk then drive. Sometimes, taxing it makes more sense?
definitely. marijuana has been used throughout american history to promote economic growth. it is less addictive than caffeine and hemp (about 1/15 the drug amount of marijuana) is the most useful paper substitute in the history of mankind. unlike paper, it does not pollute and does not yellow over time, hell, even the declaration of independence was written on it. marijuana has also been proven to help treat the symptoms of many diseases and help with mild brain syndromes such as adhd/add.
i say yes. people all over the nation smoke it anyways. why not make a profit off of it.
Yes. First, I believe federal drug bans are unconstitutional, per the 10th Amendment. Second, I would like to see marijuana legalized somewhere, so we can see just how unfounded the accusations of the anti-marijuana groups are.
Yes! As a person who deoesn’t smoke it, I fully support legalizing it and TAXING THE HELL OUT OF IT to help make a sensible dent in our country’s gigantic and growing dent. People are going to smoke no matter what, instead of artificially propping up a suffering economy with monopoly money (Stimulus), find solutions like these that are going to occur anyway!
i dont agree with it but
they are in alot of debt
so it might be nesscecery
Hey.
ive answered tons of marijuana questions like this. u know what i think it should b legalized if alchohol is legal then so should marijuana.
WHY?
1. You can overdose to the point of death on alcohol-not on marijuana
2. Drunks can be violent and sexually deviant-unlike hungry and passive on pot
3. Alcohol is an intoxicant it kills your body much quicker than marijuana.
Why is it still illegal?
Well i guess some reasons its still illegal could be bcuz
It is perceived as addictive,It has “no accepted medical use.”, It has been historically linked with narcotics, such as heroin.,It is associated with unfashionable lifestyles,It was once associated with oppressed ethnic groups,Inertia is a powerful force in public policy,Advocates for marijuana legalization rarely present an appealing case.
Good Luck
It’s stupid to make it illegal when it’s not a habit forming drug. As long as it has restrictions like alcohol there’s nothing wrong with it!
As a matter of fact I think it is a lot better than alochol any day. No hangovers or getting sick! And it can help with medical conditions and pain management which alcohol cannot.
As much as I would like it to be true, marijuana IS NOT legal in Portugal, what happened was that a few years ago all personal drug use was de-criminalized, meaning, if you have up to a certain amount of any drug (depends on the drug) you won’t get arrested BUT you will be detained and fined.
But of course I think ALL drugs should be legalized, that would put an end to drug lords and drug wars.
well if you go to Amsterdam and to Portugal, is there a major drug problem over there? I can’t speak for Portugal but Amsterdam is a flourishing, beautiful city with much less drug use (as a percentage) than the USA (i live in England though).
It can also obviously pull most states out of debt which is another pro. plus people who are over 21 aren’t babies. they have the right to decide whether to smoke it if the choose to. if heroine becomes legal everywhere right now, i’m not gonna be like “yes, now i can finally get to shoot up everyday!” would you?
furthermore it’s one of the only drugs that you CANNOT overdose on. and yes i admit drug driving has caused some problems but not nearly as frequently or with the lethality as drunk driving.
i believe the only reason it’s taken this long is because old habits die hard. people have been taught from a young age that marijuana is bad so why would the advocate it when they got older? we need to teach, liberate, medicate and in time change the face of marijuana to be as acceptable, if not a whole lot more acceptable than alcohol and cigarettes.
however there’s a silent majority. people who smoke weed and pretend they don’t. be proud of it, be headstrong about this. go do something about it, god knows i’ve tried. tell people the truth and eventually we’ll get this done everywhere in the world.
Why people need to deny some realities..here in Portugal everyone knows that there are lots of people who smoke weed and live their lives with dignity, it happens the same in the Netherlands and in the USA too…so why do we need to deny those realities..will not make things better..
At this late date I am not going to say No. But I will say, I can’t think of a worse time in the past 75 years since it has been illegal. Instead I think Americans should tax and regulate their own butts. No one can justify putting people in jail for possession or sale of marijuana but maybe grass is better off living in the shadows as has become its custom. I don’t relish the thought of idiots going hysterical on the street corners and I also think the effect on the economy could make us into a backward country like (India used to be).
This is all because the war on drugs has been a war on openness and uprightness. Now, unaccountably, they want to tax and regulate it? I would say that adds up in my view to a great time to Not smoke grass.
Let me summarize by quoting a little known graffiti of the 60’s: “All we know is, everything you know is wrong.”
