question about hemp jewellery making.?

i want to know what size the thicker hemp is? i got some 10lbs and 20lbs hemp but its quite thin. its fine for bracelets etc but i want to try to make dog collars and need the thicker stuff. some sites measure in lbs and some in millimetres. the thickest i have seen online is 1.5 millimetre and it looks thick but pictures can be misleading. also im finding it difficult to find beads with a big enough hole for even the thin hemp. Most sites dont say what size the hole is and i have tried searching specifically for beads for hemp jewellery but no joy. if you have any irish or uk sites that sell this stuff at a reasonable price that would be great. US sites are no good as i live in ireland and the postage is too expensive.
