MARIJUANA LAW REFORM PART 2 NORML
norml.org WWW.LP.ORG www.lpstuff.com What is NORML and what does the organization stand for? NORML is a nonprofit, public-interest lobby that for more than 30 years has provided a voice for those Americans who oppose marijuana prohibition. We represent the interests of the tens of millions of Americans who smoke marijuana responsibly and believe the recreational and medicinal use of marijuana should no longer be a crime. NORML supports the removal of all criminal penalties for the private possession and responsible use of marijuana by adults, including the cultivation for personal use, and the casual nonprofit transfers of small amounts. This model, similar to that recommended to Congress by President Nixon’s esteemed Shafer Commission in 1972, is called “decriminalization.” NORML additionally supports the development of a legally controlled market for marijuana, where consumers could purchase it from a safe, legal and regulated source. This model is referred to as “legalization.” NORML believes that marijuana smoking is not for kids and should only be used responsibly by adults. As with alcohol consumption, it must never be an excuse for misconduct or other bad behavior. Driving or operating heavy equipment while impaired from marijuana should be prohibited. NORML strongly supports the right of patients to use marijuana as a medicine when their physician recommends it to relieve pain and suffering. NORML has advocated for the legal use of medicinal marijuana since 1972 …
When the state goes to extra lengths to make sure you don’t talk about something then yeah. There is probably something there.
If those cops are getting paid to turn in patients then they should get mobbed! Street justice for fucked up people who are supposed to protect the people..
They ought to STICK with the fine that was set in place at the time of the offense…
Even in plaintiff vs. defendant scenarios, if today someone broke into my car, and tommorow they decided the punishment should be life in prison.. It should remain what it was at the time of the offense..
(does that clear things up)
I worded it funny, instead of saying “The state had realized they made a mistake”.. which makes it sound like I am in favor of the descion..
I should’ve said, “The state, decided that it made a mistake”
Other than that, this is besides the point.. that was a EXAMPLE..
I believe, that if today I were arrested for marijuana, and tommorow they legalize it. ALL charges should be dropped..
HOWEVER, if I am busted today for marijuana, and they WORSEN the punishment tommorow..
Damn Allison you are sexy.
What??!?!?!
Crack is WORSE then coke.
Coke, though it may have it’s bad points, does not have other things like ajax in it. Or draino. Or raid. Yeah, the bug spray.
Because of it’s unknown cutting’s it is ten times worse then anything coke could ever do.
Obviously the feds knew they were wrong then right? Still Crack head vs Coke head. That is drug use vs this. This is not the same context. This is person who wants something that lasts a few hours vs some idiot that thinks it is coke.
Imo the charge should go in favor of the person who commited it.. When it comes to:Should the person be charged with the punishment that was put in place when the crime was commited… or the punishment that was set in place during the trial?
Example- when they decided to drop the disparities between crack and cocaine.. they released all of the crack dealers early because the state had realized they made a mistake.
But if the punishment wouldvWORSENED the wouldn’t been sentenced 4 longer..
