Maine’s Cost for Marijuana Prohibition
www.mainewebnews.com How much does it cost Maine tax payers to enforce marijuana prohibition? Maine Web News follows the case of one man, James P. Fowler, to see how many tax dollars can end up being spent on just one marijuana prosecution. Rep. Diane Russell of Maine District 120 suggest there are far more worthy causes for our valuable tax dollars.
This is a top quality video and the effort really shows!!!
hell no. Weed should be legal. Gorge Washington had a weed farm. if you don’t like it just do smoke it. if you commit a crime “on weed” you go to jail for who ever you hurt(not weed). weed is only illegal because it is a form of tender according to Gorge Washington.
But a doctor can push a pill on you which most the time are experimental drugs with unthinkable side effects! Just like good little drug dealers do, push the pill for a piece of the profit!
James how the hell are you? Keep up the fight my friend and see you on the field.
@KripDrip That’s what the majority of people and the government wants you to think, most of them are users, you dumbfuck.
those inmates are the drug DEALERS! The criminal scum selling the drugs. Not the users.
Wow great video. Huge eye-opener!
Capitalism at its best
It’s even worse for those that know marijuana helps them but for whatever reason the person cannot get a prescription. Prescription my ass, we can buy strong alcohol and cigarettes at right aid but no Marijuana. WTF!!!! High Gravity bringing antoher domestic abuse to the tax payers of maine.
Keep it on the books and look the other way. That way the state of Maine can continue to suck from the federal utter.
Maine would be better served, if they completely deregulated Cannabis. Cannabis is perfectly able to be, that which it has been created to be, without Government control. All laws create corruption,
Maine Web News is awesome! Free and open societies should have free choice. Cannabis isn’t a crime.
@askaboutRudyV I have survived cancer and I have had HIV in my body for 30 years and I am still alive. I am wasting and throw up my meds often. What the hell more can they do to me than the slow starvation I am tortured by? At some point you just have to say ” What the fuck!” and go for it. Good luck and do the thing that feels hard to do(even if you butterflies in your belly while doing it) because that will make you stronger.
@michaelkaer Your are right my friend. Fear only holds one back from completing any neccessary actions. If you are brave or have no fear, then those are the people that live life to the fullest, not the foolest. Well, do your thing man, follow your dreams and goals, because, you will never accomplish anything if you don’t atleast try, and if failure, try, try again.
@SharkTheArdvark Good point dude. A MYTH, just like our rights. I heard that my brotha from anotha motha.
@askaboutRudyV I am a legal cardholder at the federal level here in Canada. I have put up a few harvest videos and have talked about Rick Simpson’s oil for curing cancer. I assume I am on some list somewhere as a person to watch out for since I am a Free Marc Emery supporter as well. Sometime you need to be fearless and do what needs to be done. Prohibition is wrong and I MUST fight that wrong.
Dictator harper up here in Canada is in the process of building more prisons and passing laws that would grab a huge bunch of low level drug users and call it trafficing if they give or trade any of their medicine with other people or make brownies even. We need a video that breaks down the costs the same way for Canadians at the Provincial level. Thanks for that bit of research.
There is also indirect costs. Cost of that officer from Florida not performing his work in Florida which another person now has to do. Cost of not trying a more serious crime as this case is taking its place. Cost of treating those patients with other medications as they were dependent on the medicinal cannabis but now no longer have it. I’m sure there are more costs that may only be evident in the future. Personal freedom? I guess that is a myth along with our constitutional rights.
The BIG OIL Corporations/gov, want to keep Marijuana ILLEGAL until the world’s oil supplies run out, then they will won’t care if it gets legal after that. You see those higher up politicians and many others in the BIG BIZZ will gladly spend the chump change of $70,000 to prosecute him and keep the GREAT VERY PROFITABLE MARIJUANA illegal, because in return for doing that they are recieving billions of dollars a year for keeping M.J. illegal. OBVIOUSLY.
Remember, be careful what you put on the internet, especially Facbook, twitter, myspace, hoverspot, etc. Because anyone can see it in some way.
Fucking snitch ass pigs, they house crackas, and house n@ggas.
Great report! Yes indeed, it’s barely worth watching mainstream media.
They don’t want to talk about the real issues, just about who won American Idol, who shot the sheriff but didn’t shoot no deputy, who got attacked by a chimpanzee, you name it.
What a waste of $ when we know it doesn’t work at all.
@atlasdaddy You are correct in that medicaid is a federal program. I don’t live in Maine, so from my point of view, if Mr. Fowler goes to jain, then his federal costs (medicaid) are not paid by me but exclusively by the Maine taxpayer. Economically speaking, this would be better for me as a federal tax payer. But of course, I agree with you video. There may be many Mr. Fowler’s in my state as well.
@awake04101 Major David Allen, Administrator for the Somerset County Jail, told us that close to 75% of all inmates at this $6 million a year facility are in for drug related offenses.
