Is it fair to say that today’s young adults from 18-35 generally will use a cell phone and not a land line?
Is it also fair to say that the polling done on proposition 19 is done with extreme bias?
The polling they use calls land line phones, it’s no secret that young adults are highly in favor of it’s legalization, it’s also no secret that people who use land lines are older generally speaking.
With that being said, is it fair to say that the polling done for proposition 19 (Legalizing marijuana in CA), is completely baseless and under estimates the voice of youth?
I’m very curious why they think polling is effective on land lines now a days, to me that methodology is inaccurate and should be deemed utterly worthless.
I’m also willing to bet there’s going to be record numbers from younger age groups showing up who normally would have never voted, this strengthens my case even more.
Ron, my point exactly.
Prop 19 polling does not call cell phones.
The media is specifically releasing biased polls to try and sway those on the fence into opposing.
lol my grand son has his own cell phone and can’t figure out how to use the land line lol…amazing……
Yes.
Polling organizations do have ways of reaching cell-phone only users. As cell phone use became more prominent, this issue became a bigger problem, but it is not today.
Younger voters don’t tend to vote as frequently. If you have some statistics that show otherwise, or your crystal ball says they will, great for you. Otherwise assuming young people will show up in massive numbers doesn’t seem like a good bet.
People still have land lines? What for? I haven’t had a land line in almost 7 years.
Obama was texting every kid that had a cell phone. How else could he have gotten in touch with all his liberal young base.
Go vote for what you believe in but remember to vote conservative on the fiscal issues.
Some polls contact both land lines and cell phones. However, some don’t, including automated surveys, such as the Rasmussen poll, that use computer-generated dialing and interviews; not surprisingly, those poll results skew to the right.
Also, cell phones can be much more expensive to contact
The nonpartisan Pew Research Center recently found that polls that contact only those with land-line phones gave Republicans a 4 to 6 percentage point edge over Democrats compared with polls that included cell phones, in four out of five national polls this year.
I hope you’re right!!! In that case Prop 19 is going to pass!! 🙂
LEGALIZE MARIJUANA!!!
Pretty much all of the younger people I know only have cell phones (especially now that you don’t need a phone line for internet). Even a lot of older people are beginning to switch to cell phones.
Legalizing marijuana would be a very smart move for the US as a whole. we would save a lot of money on law enforcement and prisons, it would be a big financial hit to the illegal drug cartels, we would make a lot of money on the taxes, it would create a whole new industry and a lot of jobs and finally it would probably prevent younger people from getting into other drugs since they wouldn’t be dealing with “dealers” who then introduct them to other drugs.
And marijuana does not tend to lead toward violent or aggressive behavior the way alcohol often does. Really, it is hard to believe anyone would oppose it.
