If marijuana is legalized will legalization of other drugs follow?
1st I would want cannabis legalized and to do that it seems like the drug derived from the cannabis plant will also have to be legalized.
That is not entirely true but for all intent and purposes in the USA it is i.e. it is possible to grow predominately very low THC strains of cannabis to make the many products that can be made from cannabis but if the drug made from cannabis is still illegal then the whole crop will likely be eliminated to rid the possibility of the drug crop.
Because of that I believe Proposition 19 *(the semi legalization of the drug called marijuana) is not in my opinion well written to take into account ‘industrial cannabis’.
*(So that is my position on the Proposition 19 ballot the semi legalization of marijuana, but marijuana is but one relatively harmless drug)
That aside after/if the drug marijuana is legalized will it open the possibility of all psychedelic or mind altering “recreational’ drugs to be legalized and to end the “drug war”.
I want to emphasize the legalization and not decriminalization the difference being with legalization there will probably be some regulations as to who can buy and quality control but after that it is a consumers market while with decriminalization there would not likely be any quality control or other regulations and possession would be treated like a ticket i.e. you could be fined possibly jailed for short period of time and forced into “community service” work,
Marijuana is unique in it’s lack of negative side effects, uncommon to many other recreational drugs. It would be a stretch to say that legalizing it will lead to legalizing other drugs – at least any time soon. I never heard of anyone trying to make the case for drugs like heroine and cocaine.
I doubt it, at least in our lifetimes. I think all drugs should be legal, personally, but then again I think lots of things. I just don’t go around advocating “legalize heroin” because it wouldn’t benefit me, personally, and I know it’s a losing battle. Marijuana, on the other hand, is used by a large portion of the world recreationally and I do believe will be legalized within the next few years. Here’s to hoping it all starts November 2nd in California. Cheers.
there are so many holes in the mary jane thing, it aint gonna happen. what would wal mart do about drug testing programs and could they be sued for firing someone with thc in their system? what about driving under the influence?
i mean if all the useless losers want to sit around california and smoke medical marijuana, so be it. BUT it’s just another sign of a useless society in decline.
WTF, we got beer as is! just get drunk.
I am leaning that way. Legalize and regulate, could make it safer. Of course roadside tests would help driving under influence testing.
It would also cripple the illegal drug cartels and create revenue.
