If California legalizes Marijuana do you expect the Obama administration to try and put a stop to it?
It has been proven that Marijuana does not kill brain cells. It makes them slower, but it does not kill them.

No,
Nope. He’s already ended the Bush-era policy of raiding the medical dispensaries, taking a hands off approach to medical marijuana. No reason to think he wouldn’t do the same with recreational. Heck the guy was a stoner for a brief period at Occidental College.
No, I don’t think they will oppose the last chance California has to save itself from drowning in debt.
And though pot doesn’t quite KILL brain cells, it does permanently alter normal brain function and cognitive ability with prolonged chronic use. (no pun intended!)
No, Obama is respecting “state rights” like guns in bars in TN and AZ. And pulled the DEA off of MED pot growers.
k
you guys are fucking dumb as shit smoking weed
I doubt he will try to put a stop to anything being that he seems to try to make a compromise to both sides.
So if anything, the MJ issue will stand somewhat with the Gay Marriage issue, Some states allow it, most of them don’t. Not that i am comparing the two issues.
Note that if it does become legal in CA, or at least on the brink of becoming legal, it takes a few weeks to actually put the law into effect, which means there will probably be a period where some officials will try to shut down as many dispensaries and MJ friendly locations as possible.
They did the same thing in Northridge with their vegetation, where they cut down as many trees and plants before the law went into full effect.
if you go on NORML.org, you can see the laws in other states. At best, if the law passes, it will create reform in other states. If most states eventually legalize it, then the federal government may have to rethink their issues (HOPEFULLY).
He better not and Oregon better be next in line to legalize!
seems like obama would do that
I don’t know that it would be the “Obama administration” that tries to put it a stop to it.
I would, however, expect almost certain lawsuits from one corner or another, even from some private citizens.
Medical marijuana might be a bit of a grey area, but full legalization would still directly contradict federal law, and it would be flagrant enough that suits would certainly fly, thus holding up actual enactment. And to be brutally frank, I expect cases could carry on for years, with things likely actually ultimately getting shut down at federal level, even if it has to go all the way to the Supreme Court.
Soooooo…. would it almost certainly be stopped? Yes. One way or another. Would the Obama administration have to be proactive about it themselves? No, they’d probably generally stay out and not risk political capital on the issue. It’s not like the potheads with their slow brain cells are likely to riot in the street.
The ironic thing is that if legalization actually passes (temporarily) in California, I could actually see an enormous backlash, including against the medical stuff. Getting greedy for full-blown legalization without at least requiring a doctor’s prescription for some supposed need could backfire in a huge way and turn things into all-or-nothing…. with the “nothing” people getting out in force to slam the door.
