Both sides want the best medical care at the lowest cost. Both sides want less crime. You can’t have either with legal medical marijuana.
You cannot take away the law enforcement ability to nail someone on reefer. They will almost never arrest someone who doesn’t have a record as long as your arm just because of pot. Police need that law to nail crooks. If you take that away, you will end up enabling criminals and many more people will die much less suffer than any number who get a few moments of pain relief from the hallucination of a bong hit.
Pot causes as many problems as it solves in the medical world. Give up. There is no good argument for medical marijuana outside the delusions of the gloriously stoned and immaculate. I wish there was.
The value is that it temporarily relives pain that people are truly in. My question is, why is medical marijuana not regulated by the FDA, by doctors, through doctors as a prescription as all medicine is. Why are people getting this so called medicine from clubs who are owned by anyone who has the money and the desire to open one. If it is truly medicine, it should be treated as medicine. I believe there are many people who are truly in pain that truly need this medicine of choice. I also believe that there are even more people that have just found a way to smoke and get high from this system. This includes the growers and distributors. Big money maker here. Has been for centuries.
One common value/goal is that both sides want to the patient to be healthy, or to get better. While one side argues that marijuana can be effective in reducing pain, increasing appetite, and eliminating nausea, the other side finds that the use of marijuana would be detrimental in some other regards.
Another one, though it’s kind of a stretch, is they both want the law on their own side. Those championing medicinal marijuana, of course want it to be legal and an accepted form of treatment, while the other side wants it to remain illegal and the negative stigmas surrounding it perpetuated
