How to get a smoother hit off my hookah.?
I got 2 new hookahs in today, one is a Old School Rotator Nammor Hookah, and the other is a Mini Maya Hookah. i got a Nammor hose for both, hearing that they are the best hoses out atm. i tried the Roman Melonberry Shisha first, and it was kinda pleasant at first, they it got really harsh and now i cant even stand the smell of it. i also tried the Roman Vanilla Shisha and it was pleasant but got a little harsh, i still enjoy it. This is MY first hookahs, ive seen my friend set them up all the time, but i have no idea why its so harsh, im kinda wondering if its the Three Kings Coals im using, i put 2 on top of my OSNR Hookah, but got harsh a few hits later. i rotated them every 2-3 mins, am not rotating them enough? or what?

I’ve rarely used a hookah for its intended purpose but what I remember from a trip to Egypt was that they only used one coal per bowl. You could also put some ice in it.
Sounds like your using too much heat. Crack the 3 Kings Coals into halves and use 3 halves in triangle pattern on your bowl.
If you switch to coconaras or other natural coals the will taste less like coal.

Some tips to keep your hookah hitting smoother, and to keep it from getting harsh:
Spread your coals apart, and put them as close to the edge of the bowl as you can (it won’t get as hot).
The way you are rotating them is good, be sure to blow off the ash from the coals when you rotate them.
DON’T do this with a mini mya saray, but with a bigger hookah, if it’s harsh, you can blow into the hose and blow the smoke out of the chamber, because that smoke gets stale and harsh, especially when the bowl gets too hot and you get too much smoke in there… Don’t blow too insanely hard because it is possible to send the water up through the stem and into your bowl, at which point the bowl is done and you’ll need a new one.
Blow out your bowl when you change your coals… You literally take the bowl off of the hookah and blow into the bottom of it… You will see a bunch of smoke/ash come out of the holes in the foil at the top… It will probably be pretty thick, blow it out a few times, until there’s not a lot of smoke/ash coming out and you should be good…
Don’t pack your bowls too tightly… I know it seems like the more tobacco the better, but it really should be pack loosely in there… And try not to use super juicy tobacco (it burns super fast!) And lastly, try using a funnel bowl instead of a straight suction bowl… They last longer and hit better! OH, and maybe you are poking your holes too big, or too many… Good luck! Message me if you have any questions!!
Like the others said, it is most likely a heat problem. Are you using the normal ceramic base that came with the hookah. If so, I would recommend a Funnel bowl with a scalli mod. The bowl will keep your shisha moist and avoid scorching which is what creates the harsh hits you are talking about. With the set up I am using I don’t even have to rotate the coals. I can smoke for 2-3 hours without it getting harsh.
Here is a link to the bowl I use… you can go to youtube and find scalli mod instructions or buy one from assorted online sites.
