can’t sugar coat it just tell him
You can just tell your doctor straight out, hes required by the Hippa Law not to tell anyone and keep it in confidence with you. But I would tell him that you feel guilty about smoking it, and see if you can get a perscription for marinol, after you proved to him/her that it worked, but don’t bring that word up to him/her, he’ll think you just wana smoke reefer.
I think that in order to actually get your card or license, or whatever system they have in your state you need to be diagnosed with the disease before you have that chat with your doctor.
Other than that, just tell him, there’s nothing else you can really do. That’s what I plan to do if I can get more proof that the weed helps, but I already have talked to my doctor about the pain. I plan to just explain that I tried marijuana, and it worked, and also discuss how the other pain meds I’ve taken have just taken the edge off, while marijuana can eliminate the pain entirely and requires me to spend less time hopped up on drugs.
