How many of you believe that medical marijuana should be a right to people who qualify?

I think marijuana should be legal in the same way that cigarettes and alcohol are.
It’s a minor vice, no worse in its effects that drinking, smoking gambling or eating too much ice cream.
Legalizing it would immediately deny organized crime a large source of income.
It would immediately create a large, legitimate business, and many new jobs.
It would immediately relieve the cops, the courts and the prisons of the considerable expense of chasing down, trying and imprisoning people who are law abiding citizens apart from their use of marijuana.
It would immediately provide a new source of tax revenue.
There is no good reason to keep it illegal.
i sell my car
Let me guess? American
That is typical American customs. That’s why America is seen as as stupid and arrogant.
If one qualifies to be prescribed marijuana on a medical basis so be it.
It has been scientifically proven of this drugs medicinal properties as an aid for those who suffer from chronic pain related to muscular and nuerological disorders. Multiple Sclerosis patients, cancer patients, arhtritis (all types) are just three of the many that would qualify.
There are many people who cannot take the regular type of pain killers otherwise known as barbituates,opiates etc. These are beneficial to those who do not have any reaction to these type of drugs. Strangely enough, it is these very drugs that are prescibed by the millions to patients everyday that are abused and mis used. As they have that “high” associated with the properties of the drug used, for example, morphine, by adding alcohol into the equasion, you now have one very mixed up patient with a severe mental health problem
Which is the better of the two evils ?
It should be legal for medicinal and recreational use. Our government says drug use is a crime, but where is the victim. As long as people are not stealing or violent to get the drugs, it is not a crime. A crime should have to have an actual victim.
I don’t smoke it – never did, but I think it should be legal for those who want it, not just those that need it for medical reasons. Our government spends too much manpower and money trying to enforce the laws against it, and it’s useless. It’s not your pot-smokers committing crimes for drug money. Save that money for the health care system – LOL.
I do simply because it is a drug and does have some medical relief for people with cancer and glaucoma.
It is no more harmful than alcohol or cigarettes and also the gov can tax the hell out of it.
Minors are getting it any way, drug pushers are making a fortune off of it, may be the gov can create some jobs by putting people to work growing and processing it.
yes but once again to people who QUALIFY such as cancer patients people with mental disorders appiteite problems ect. not just some high school kid who says “bro i cant sleep unless i smoke a bowl” or i cant think straight unless i rip a bong first also i dont think its really a problem but it should have the same standards with alcohol ect. i was an alcoholic and a pothead at different times in my life and being an alcoholic caused way more problems in my life.
I am not convinced marijuana does have any genuine medical benefits. I have never personally seen or heard a friend or colleague claim that marijuana has been of any use to ease pain or cure this or that.
What I have seen though is people clamour to get a medical marijuana card without having a genuine need to obtain one. Prior going to their doctor they ask around to find out what symptoms they should be claiming to have so that they can use medical marijuana without fear of criminal responsibility.
If marijuana is a genuine medical benefit then all well and good but I am just not convinced it is.
Yes. 11 states currently allow medical marijuana and as of yet there have been no real problems. In California medical marijuana has been legal since 1995. Now as to whether or not minors should be allowed access depends on their medical condition.
C. Eligible medical conditions: “Serious Medical Condition”
“Serious medical condition” means all of the following medical conditions:
Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS);
Anorexia;
Arthritis;
Cachexia;
Cancer;
Chronic pain;
Glaucoma;
Migraine;
Persistent muscle spasms, including, but not limited to, spasms associated with multiple sclerosis;
Seizures, including, but not limited to, seizures associated with epilepsy;
Severe nausea;
Any other chronic or persistent medical symptom that either:
Substantially limits the ability of the person to conduct one or more major life activities as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-336); and
If not alleviated, may cause serious harm to the patients safety or physical or mental health.
If someone has a REAL and chronic medical condition then I say yes. However if they’re complaining about something that can’t be medically proven like a bad back, migraines or anxiety attacks then no. About the only problem with medical marijuana is we’ve got way too many “Dr. Feelgood” types writing prescriptions for cannabis like candy.
Remember it only takes a couple corrupt physicians or dispensaries illegally selling marijuana out the backdoor to make the whole program look bad.
By the way Californians are thinking about legalizing marijuana for recreational use. If AB 390 passes the state will not only legalize marijuana but tax it and regulate weed just like alcoholic beverages. Its estimated that a legal marijuana industry will bring in 1.2 billion dollars a year in tax revenues.
cannabis, used medically or not, shouldn’t necessarily be a right, but it shouldn’t be illegal. the united states government should not and does not have the authority to decided what i do or don’t put into my body.
as long as i use in a controlled, private setting.
as far as personal liberty is concerned, i don’t think an age limit should be imposed by the federal government, the state government maybe, but not federal.
I want it legalized for all adults, and taxed like everything else! It is much less harmful than alcohol or most prescription drugs (with all their terrible side effects).
it should be legal to anyone who wants to grow it in their back yard. period.
