How long until MOCK ORANGE PHILADELPHUS bareroot shows root growth ?
I bought two “sticks” on ebay for $18 and they seller said they were “live” and they looked like dead sticks, and I planted them properly in potting soil and have babied them and I see no root growth on them yet when I gently pulled the soil away from it. Shouldn’t there be some kind of growth. I am going to leave negative feedback or get a refund and I have to do it within 60 days, which only leaves me 30 days, so I need to know if i can see that they are actually going to do something in 60 days. I’ve grown bare root etc before. But not this kind. HE says no refunds so I am not happy and he won’t respond to my emails, so I need to know. I also soaked them in root toner just like the instruction said online, he sent NO instructions of any kind !
You bought two sticks. Being really good growing season I would think with 2 weeks of receiving them they should have grown. Give the (dumba*@) seller a really bad review. Complain to ebay too.
This is not the time of year for hardwood cuttings and that is essentially what you received. However, 30 days is plenty of time for most cutting to initiate some type of growth, if there is no swelling in the buds, no root formation and the cambium (meristem right below the bark) is not green when you gently scrap the bark, the cuttings are dead.
eBay has a conflict resolution process, I wouldn’t wait any longer, go ahead and start the process.
