how do I go about getting a license to be a medical marijuana dispensary in Colorado?
I have a niece who was hurt in a car accident. She got her card to carry medical marijuana. So I was interested in looking into how do I obtain my license to open my own dispensary.

I would start with a small business lawyer in CO. The laws are very different state to state. Speaking to the owner of a local dispensary might help. However, at least in CA, there are still dispensaries that are operating illegally, so you may not get much out of them. I’ve seen close to 50 dispensaries in CA and less than 10 were willing to speak about the legality of their licenses. If you need a partner with some great ideas on running the business, give me a call. 🙂
Well it could all change in the next few weeks. The patient is registered and it is not a card to carry it is a recommendation from a Dr. CO laws are up in the air at the moment. A good place to stay up to date is westword.com. Obtain your registry card and have your niece assign your dispensary as a caregiver. Currently the dispensaires collect a certain number of pateints who list them as a caregiver and the dispensary opens like another store front business; license, corp or llc, etc. A lawyer is the first stop for many.
