Alcohol is easier to mass produce, so the govt gets more revenue from that then they could from a plant.
thats an age old question that even late comedian Bill Hicks had a problem with. 1) MJ grows in the dirt in peoples’ back yards and makes you less aggressive 10 fold. 2) alchohol is a poison that does nothing good for you in the long run and can put you right in jail in most cases of use.
My theory: No money comes from someone sitting in their appartment getting stoned and watching cartoons, but the state can make thousands off of someone who drinks 2 beers and forgets to use his blinker.

Marijuana was made illegal by Harry J Anslinger and William Randolph Hearst. They were both racist toward blacks and mexicans. Harry J Anslinger believed making a smear campaign against marijuana would help him get a job in the Bureau of Narcotics. He said things like “Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.”. William Randolph Hearst had investment in the timber industry to help his newspaper. And during this time Hemp (the material made from marijuana) was known as a cheap raw material for paper and many other fabrics. the Mexicans near the border also owned a lot of land cultivated and sold marijuana.
Every other thing negative you hear about marijuana is either a lie or grossly over exaggerated.
pretty much marijuana has been demonized since then and is believed to be something it is not.
it is safe and in some cases can be considered healthy, studies show that light use has been linked to a slight IQ increase.
