I’m not a big fan of Barney Frank, but I agree with him and Dr. Paul on this bill. Rep. Frank has reintroduced the bill this session. It’s HR 2943. Call your Representatives and tell them to co-sponsor this legislation. We have state and local laws governing the possession and consumption of marijuana, we don’t need federal drug laws to do the same thing.
except that the civil penalty provided in section 405 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 844a) may be imposed for the public use of marijuana if the amount of the penalty does not exceed $100.
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no penalty may be imposed under an Act of Congress for the possession of marijuana for personal use, or for the not-for-profit transfer between adults of marijuana for personal use. For the purposes of this section, possession of 100 grams or less of marijuana shall be presumed to be for personal use, as shall the not-for-profit transfer of one ounce or less of marijuana,
What we really need is the legalization of Industrial Hemp. The benefits of the plant can save our planet from pollution. It can help to end starvation. It can provide a whole new industry of jobs to produce environmentally friendly products. Just do a little research.
now if their where to slide it in as a hidden ear mark with one of the bail-out plans they might have a chance.Weather you use marijuana or not this is more about the FREEDON to choose,I use my freedom every day and don`t care if they pass it or not I know I will always pass it.puff puff pass
it need to be legalized i’m on probation and i deal with alot from my past and i need cannibus to ease myself instead now i’m forced to drink beers which make you gain weight and could kill you
Frank knew this bill would never pass. He set the amount of marijuana to be decriminalized WAYYY too high for it ever to be taken up by the subcommittee on crime.
If he really wanted to get a decriminalization bill through, he would have set the amount at no more than 30 grams and he would have gotten a co-sponsor that is actually taken seriously in Washington.
If you put Ron Paul’s name on a bill you might as well throw it in the garbage can because it’s never going anywhere.
Yeah, 5843 would have been good legislation it just sucks that it was ruined by putting Ron Paul’s name on it. None of Ron Paul’s legislation ever gets passed. Having as him co-sponsor means it will never even get out of committee.
Ron Paul is probably the most ineffective legislator on Capital Hill.
The lack of ethically morale policies in Washington regarding marijuana and it’s questionable effects on health related matters has lead to a much greater incarceration of our youth. Don’t you think it’s time we see the reality for what it is? If marijuana does not kill anyone in comparible contrast to cigarettes and alcohol, doesn’t that already take public safety issues off the table?
dont forget the vibrant underground economy that the government actualy needs…muck like cheep illegal imagrant labour they dont want it legal because of the lost revenue
you know whats really funny, if marijuana is legal, the DEA is gonna fail even more miserably, they make all of their money on marijuana,
nothing hard about finding a medical marijuana dispensary, parking in front of it, laughing and smiling while passing the plant towards the van,
nothing difficult about finding a sick person’s house, breaking in, killing their dogs maybe, and stealing their medicine.
take that job away from them? what can they do? find criminals? actually do work? no way
No Drugs or alcohol should be illegal. Prohibition didn’t work in the 20s and it hasn’t worked for the general Public Now. The General public being the Those who count.
People should be have to get a an easy to attain license to purchase any drug, caffeine, nicotine products. This way anyone could sell products, we could tax those items and help those who have the need for help if addicted.
I don’t use(think is disgusting) but , I understand there are those who do. What a shame.
This kind of reminds me of the tobacco law in Delaware. It is illegal for someone under the age of 18 to buy tobacco products and it is illegal to sell tobacco products to them. But it is legal for someone under 18 to have them in their possesion and smoke them.
@wogsland BECAUSE ITS ILLEGAL

You make a great point, but this bill they are introducing is garbage, wont make a difference at all until it is completely legal, which it should be.
I mean its too high to gain enough support to ever become law. I’m not saying that it would make bad policy, just bad politics.
