english experts, does this sentence/paragraph make sense?
or do i have to reword it a little, and if so, how? thanks(:
A plant that has been around for at least the past nine thousand years had gone perfectly overlooked until about the last century, in which it suddenly became illegal and labeled as a narcotic. Anything that has been around for so long whose effects have gone either unnoticed or were never present to begin with cannot hold much potential harm or that of severe degree.
Legalizing marijuana would also advocate its industrial and environmental use.
It just doesn’t seem right. You may want to use a few scientific words and stuff like that.
Could smooth it out a little:
A plant that has been around for at least nine thousand years has been perfectly overlooked until recent years. Suddenly it has become illegal and has been labeled a narcotic. Anything that has been around for so long, the effects of which have been either unnoticed or nonexistent, cannot hold much harm or cause harm to a severe degree.
