Do you think we will come close to approving marijuana again?
Once that Nazi’s leadership runs out anyway? The reason I wonder about this is because 4 days ago when I drove by the provincial parliament building here in Winnipeg there was a whole shitload of marijuana smokers congregating to I assume protest for the decriminalization of marijuana in this country. I don’t smoke the stuff myself anymore but hell, I don’t see why we can’t just legalize that stuff and allow people to do what they want with an organic plant. If it gets patented by tobacco companies or whatever, then wouldn’t the companies be paying a lot more for it from the growers in order to distribute it than any private illegal operation would be, this would then seize all private illegal operations.
It cannot be legalized until they can develop some sort of roadside test similar to the breathalyzer for people who decide to get high and drive. Sure, it would generate a new avenue for taxation and mean more money for public services….but then again, so would legalizing prostitution. Smoking pot impairs your judgment and slows your reaction time…so in order to legalize it, something must be developed to test for it, that is non-invasive and fast.
It was pot awareness day.
Marijuana will not be decriminalized as long as the Conservatives are in power.
Again? Marijuana has never been approved.
The thing is, it is a controlled substance and it’s controlled for a reason. Leave out the hallucinogenic aspect – anytime you inhale smoke into your lungs, you are setting the scene for cancer. The government is putting a great deal of effort into encouraging people to stop smoking – and that means smoking anything.
Yes, it could be sold through licensed outlets – at liquor and tobacco are and that would cut out some illegal operations – but there is still a clandestine market in tobacco – growers sell to private companies who process it in an uncontrolled manner and sell it on the black market for below-retail prices. So selling MJ in controlled outlets isn’t going to guarantee the purity of the product.
Marijuana will not likely ever be made legal in Canada because the US government has made it clear that they will punish Canada economically if we ever did that.
Just wondering, what will they do? Stop buying our oil & gas?
