Do you think it’s fair that the Federal gov has vowed to fight legalization of marijuana in California?
Do you think it’s an infringement of individual liberty and states rights if California democratically decides to legalize marijuana by popular vote on Nov 2 and the Feds try to stop it?

the ban on cannabis was a big joke from the start
United States Constitution, Article VI, Section 1, Clause 2
“This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.”
So yes, it’s completely fair. Federal law > State law every time.
don’t tell me you thought you lived in a democracy?? with freedoms
They don’t have a choice, it is against federal law, they have to try.
No.
What someone chooses to use or ingest is nobody else’s business, and certainly not the government’s.
If its anything like how the Federal Government tries to control illegal immigration…..you will have nothing to worry about.
NO to the first part
–
and YES to the second part
I say legalize it all. This would take the profits out of illegal drugs and the dope dealers would go elsewhere. It beats spending trillions fighting the drug war which we will never win.
The Federal Government is obligated by law to defend existing federal laws. However, Obama has called off the “dogs” Bush frequently unleashed on the states regarding medicinal marijuana in states where it has been approved by the voters.

Yes, It’s unfair that I have to deal with the negative aspect of drug abuses.
Your Messiah, Obama, has Spoken.
Bow Down and Listen.
well they legalized illegals voting in Arizona, why not dowse a voted law in California. Obummer is going to have the same regards in history as King John by the times he’s through, especially when we see the huge rise in tax convictions that well see in 2011.
They’re fighting AZ over immigration laws that they don’t enforce now.
What’s the difference ??
Don’t know about you but I’m quaking in my boots. The Feds stilll after over 200 years can’t run a post office, they can’t stop illegals from coming in and working(even when they have a physical address/and place of employment of the illegal), so yup I’m scared they will stop the legalization of pot in CA. They talk big, but are full of hot air.
Well federal law supercedes state law but they wont have the resources to fight 6 states which all have the same proposition on the ballot Tuesday, not just Calif.
The postal service was made an independent agency and considered quasi-governmental in 1981, another Reagan attempt to get rid of government and save money. Since then, the cost has increased and it is less efficient than when it was a government agency.
No the Supremacy Clause along with the Commerce Clause makes it completely Constitutional. However I think the prohibition of marijuana is one of our worst policy failures that we’ve ever enacted. We tried in 1919 to eradicate alcohol and it took us only 14 years to realize that failed. The failure was so obvious we repealed the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. Yet in this day and age we cannot even realize that after 70 years of trying to eradicate marijuana that we have failed to do so.
bravo, calvin! They’ve really worked wonders on the immigration problem (NOT)!
