I don’t know how to tell, and some say that their sex can be manipulated w/ extended hours of sunlight. I don’t get it personally, but I get mine from a pharmacy in California where it’s legal.

M N doesn’t know what he is talking about. The female plant is the one people smoke but it is also the sex that produces seeds (if it gets pollinated). Female plants produce buds which will have white stigmas growing out of them. Male plants produce pollen sacks that look like tiny grapes. Neither plant will show it’s sex until the flowering season.

Mr. Reuben and CS have got it right. MN is wrong, and their sex cannot be manipulated by changing the length of day. Shortening the light period induces flowering so they show which gender they are, but doesn’t change it.

The smokeable portions are the flowers of the females. Everything else is too low of a concetration of THC to be worth smoking. The way you tell the difference is because the males will bud as small balls of pollen while the female will be flower clusters that have small hairs coming out of them. Note that this method of sexing the plant can only be done after flowering has begun. There is another method i have heard of in which case during the germination of the seed the initial root will be curved on a female and will be almost straight on a male. Once again i am not sure wether the latter is true.
