“The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this.”
Albert Einstein
“Make the most of the Indian hemp seed,
and sow it everywhere!”
George Washington
im sure they tucked some into their pockets every now and then.
lol thaas so cool they rockk
They grew hemp not marijuana it was used in a number of things then and still is in some countries.
Yeah, they also freed us from tyranny from time to time…
Its funny you would say that- considering marijuana wasn’t introduced into the united states until well after the foundation of our country was laid.
I wish it were true- it might help push the legalization issue.
Many europian rulers did opium, however. They had easy access once a trade route was established through china.
Your sources, please.
They try to keep it all PC but the truth gets out. Its outlawed due to racism and political agendas, it a crying shame :’ (
It is indigenous to this country…George Washington said “Make good use of it”. It was also popular during prohibition for obvious reasons.
Jimmy Carter If i’m not mistaken .
thats a funny one but wats even more so funny is that the priminister of australia is growing it at present and they made it legal in Canberra wich is where he lives.
I knew Washington did, but didn’t know about Jefferson. Remember Clinton? “I did not inhale”
Every day is President’s day.
Don’t forget Ben Franklin and his substantial hemp plantation. Of course he also wrote a leaflet praising farts, so what can you say? One cool old dude.
Both presidents grew hemp, not marijuana, and it was for rope, not smoking.
The hemp they grew bears only a small resemblance to marijuana. In the two hundred years since, marijuana has been cross-bred and cultivated with one intention in mind–to make it stronger and more addictive. Maybe you can still make rope from it, but I’d hate to be around if it burns.
Yes they did grow Cannabis Sativa, but used the Hemp portion of the plant – roots, stem, and stalk mainly for rope and making canvass sails on ships. Most farmers in that day grew Cannabis, it was very common and a useful crop.
The term Marijuana is mexican slang, termed from Mexican soldiers who used the flowers, buds, and leaves of the Cannabis plant to smoke. The term was popularized during government sponsored “reefer madness” movement in the 1930’s, claiming it made people crazy, which eventually led to it’s classification as an illegal drug.
