This is my first vaporizer. There aren’t that many reviews of it around (the most extensive of which was at […]). If you look at the company’s website ([…]) you’ll find a really well put together site which details every aspect of the thing, and I found all of the information on there to be accurate when compared to my own experience.
As for my experience…
I’ve had DBV for about three days now, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my first impression. It came packed away in its own cushioned bag. This bag is amazing, it’s super cushioned with a plush interior and a relatively inconspicuous burlap exterior. It has little compartments inside for the glass and tubing and zips up to hold the vaporizer very snug.
When I tried it out for the first time, I did exactly as the instructions said, first turning the dial to full for about two minutes, then back down about 1/3 (so at about 2/3 total, though I fiddle with the dial, sometimes dialing it back to halfway and 1/3 of the way). The ceramic heater is easily visible through the top of the vaporizer, so while there is no thermostatic display, I was able to judge the intensity of the heat based off of the intensity of the glowing ceramic.
I put 1/4 of an inch of herb inside the whip and with the first draw I was immediately pleased. The first thing you’ll notice when you exhale is a very pleasant taste (depends on the herb used I’m sure). There isn’t a thick cloud of smoke as with conventional smoking, but rather a light vapor (duh). I gave it about four or so draws before I could no longer extract vapor. The instructions say to stir the herb after every 4-7 draws, and so this puzzled me. When I filled it to about 1/2 inch, I got more draws obviously, but I had to be careful not to draw too slowly, as drawing slowly will cause the herb to heat more, and possibly ignite. All in all, I had one ignition (my girlfriend did it actually), where the entire whip filled up with smoke. Since then, I’ve pretty much gotten the hang of it. The instructions say that most people will learn how to use the device flawlessly in about a week, but if you just pay attention, you’ll have it down on the first day. Also, if you use higher quality herb then you get more draws.
The best way to judge how you’re faring in extracting the vapor is to look at the herb after you’re done. If any of the vaporized herb is black, then you are vaporizing at too high of a temperature and/or drawing too slowly, and as such the herb is burning (which defeats the purpose of vaporizing). If you see hints of green left in it, you can still use it, though it will probably have an unpleasant taste. The ideal look is a solid brown, not too dark – very similar looking to tobacco. I’ve been told that even at this stage, the herb can STILL be re-used, but I have my standards…
Another thing worth mentioning is the goodies that came with it. It came with a key-chain blunt splitter, a key-chain air-tight container, a camouflage herb grinder. All of the goodies are rather cheap in quality compared to the vaporizer itself, but you can’t really complain about freebies!
And finally, I had the problem of the previous user, where the plastic tubing would not fit into the glass as it seemed too large for the glass. Simply putting some water or saliva on the glass tubing will help it stick in there for a nice air-tight fit.
Another tip: You can use water filtration by simply hooking the plastic tube up to a … water pipe, and using that instead of the simple glass mouthpiece provided.
If I think of anything else, I’ll update this!

I have been using the hotbox vaporizer for 6 months now and as it was lent to me, my friend eventually wanted it back. I went to the local shops to originally buy an iolite. Having done a lot of research on line and having used other devices, i surprisingly settled on Da Buddha Vape even though i had never even seen one or read any reviews.
This vape does everything a vaporizer should do, and at the right price. Solid construction and adjustable temp nob. With the padded carrying case it has become my new medical friend. The wand has been sand blasted on the end as has the receiving sleeve. It is glass on glass and with the sand blasting, it makes for a nice snug fit for, as they say, “hands free operation”. I like how the heating element is a passive air(air blowing by the element) rather than being inside the wand.
I set mine to the 2 o’clock position and find that i get a thicker more potent, yet smooth vape hit.
My only complaint (seeing as there always has to be a down side to everything for it to be real), is that the base of the wand is not tapered to fit inside the end of the whip. Rather the whip goes inside the end. Not a big deal other than the fact that the whip i received with my kit was a little too wide for the wand and would be crimped in the end, blocking optimal airflow. I fixed it with a 2 inch section of slightly smaller tubing that fit inside the wand and also the whip. Now it’s ALL GOOD!
