Could a doctor in Canada (BC) prescribe medical marijuana to an adolescent?
I have been reading through the literature on ADHD and found a doctor in California that advocates for using medical marijuana in ADHD adolescents (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj72e5q61Fs .
I was wondering, is such a thing possible in Canada, say in British Columbia, among teens in school? I am interested in this because if the answer is yes, how would administering the drug to the youth be handled? My experience with high school students is that they basically control their own meds unless otherwise requested by a parent/guardian.
Any insight or direction to academic, credible resources would be appreciated.
id say you would have to have legal docs stating your age, and medical history and im pretty sure you would still have to have an adult get the script for you, so far the best adhd med i have come across is called vyvanse it worked miracles in me, my lil sis , my mom and my dad lol
I find this hilarious. Why? Because the adderall they currently get is FAR more narcotic. And I imagine the med marijuana would be handled the same way the addderall is.
When I was in high school, all meds had to be dispensed through the nurses unit. Now, many kids did still carry their own, but if caught the consequences were stiff, as they were trying to curb drug passing. Requiring all meds go through the nurse helped some, but not a great deal. Many parents simply just did not declare the meds their kids are on, because it was a hassle and a half to go to the nurses unit to get it, and some people ended up missing their lunch and breaks because it took them so long to do it.
