The gateway theory IS utter nonsense. The only possible way to suggest that using cannabis leads to anything else is due to prohibition itself, since to get cannabis now requires that one visit an illegal drug dealer. A dealer who likely sells OTHER drugs. Once you’ve surmounted the initial hurdle of the risk of visiting an illegal drug dealer (and potentially being ignorant of the vast disparity between cannabis and the other items he’s selling) it’s easy to see one might be tempted.
The “gateway theory” is utter BS. Places where cannabis has be quasi-legalized have actually seen a reduced migration from “lighter” drugs to “harder” drugs among citizens. Also, studies done on cannabis have found nothing in it that would make a user desire or crave such harder drugs. Anyone who throws up this argument is either ignorant, or is trying to mislead people.

@lebking95 Cigs, alcohol, fast food, msg, aspartame, flouride, pharmaceuticals, mercury in fillings, mindless entertainment on tv, video cameras going up in every public place. The list goes on and on. They don’t care about people at all, just money and power. I also agree about them putting shit in hemp if it goes commercial. The good thing about it though is it IS a plant, so people can grow it themselves as they have been doing illegally ever since the govt made these idiotic laws.

@lebking95 Yup I know what you mean. At least things seem to be moving forward now with regards to cannabis, but who knows how that will turn out. I’m one of those people that think everyone should be totally free to do anything they want as long as they aren’t hurting others. Making laws against plants is absurd, almost as absurd as laws keeping you from putting in your own body whatever you choose. Humanity has become so unnatural and restricted its just bizarre to me.
