Usually hospitals give marijuana after treatment to give the person some apetite so that they don’t get malnourished. If you’re depressed they’ll probably give you Zoloft or something of the sort.
That would depend on what state you’re in and the laws governing Medical Marijuana Dispensing, since it’s up to the states to mandate whether medical marijuana is legal or not. I think Oregon and Alaska are those states. In Alaska smoking Marijuana in public is not a crime… but a fine or some sort… double check on that to be sure.
But it may be wise to consider looking at the cause of your depression instead of avoiding it by a substance. All that would do is temporarily distract the mind from what is depressing it and not solve the issue.
But it’s also possible you may just be looking for a reason to smoke legally. 😉
