Can you become a Pharmacy Technician if you smoke marijuana?
I’m interested in becoming one but I do smoke during my menstrual cycle because I get extremely nauseous and have horrible cramps and no medication in the world helps me.
Thanks 🙂
Oh and I live in Texas if that makes any difference.

if you tell the pharmacy, probably not.
no, you cannot be a pharmacy technician if you have any drug history
Actually, yes you can
I’m in school right now for Pharmacy Tech. And sadly, I’d have to say that you cannot be a pharmacy tech if you smoke marijuana. I’m sorry, but if you’re prescribed marijuana, then possibly yes, you can be. If you’re caught with any type of drug charges, then you can never be a pharmacy tech or a pharmacist. Because it’s a huge liability for the pharmacy owner or the store. Maybe if you did it once a month and then cleaned out your system, they’d never know. But it’s definitely not a risk I would take.
Well as for a lot of jobs I’m sure that they will drug test you, it is actually much more likely that you will be drug tested when you will be working around drugs so ya you can’t smoke. They will probably have something where they drug test you randomly too. I know that my friend used to be a pharmacy tech at a Publix and they did random drug testing. Though I don’t think she ever actually got drug tested besides when she first got the job and she worked there for a little over a year during school. As far as medication have you gone to a doctor and asked about that? I’m sure there is some prescription medication that you haven’t tried. Though I don’t really know about such things I do know that doctors are always very helpful and understanding. You can go and talk to them and they will do everything they can to help you out. It may just be because your insurance or you are paying them every time you go but still they will help out.
All im gonna say is most civilian places do not drug test. But sometime its worth it to not smoke for a good job.
