Cannabis / hemp seeds are not legal to grow in the U.S. under Federal law and any imported hemp products must meet a zero tolerance level under the Controlled Substances Act (P.L. 91-513; 21 U.S.C. 801 et seq.). In NY the most common charge is Unlawful Possession of Marijuana
(UPM – Penal Law 221.05) for possession of less than 25 grams (about 7/8 of an ounce) of marijuana.
