California Prop 19 Should weed be legalized and why?
Do you feel California should legalize weed and why do you think it did not get legalized this year?? I am a supporter of separation between state and government so I did not support the bill, but I would still be open-minded to the idea if the argument was legitimate.

The war on marijuana has been going on for more than 60 years, and it’s just making people unhappy. This “prohibition of marijuana” isn’t working, the number of marijuana related cases go up every year. The history of making marijuana illegal is based around racism, business interests, and yellow journalism. At this time, science concludes that marijuana is harmless. It should be a person right to use something they like, as long as it does not harm others. Take a look at alcohol, it changes a persons body chemistry, is unhealthy to the user, causes addiction, and impairs judgment which can be extremely harmful to others, yet it is completely legal, whereas marijuana is not addictive, is not harmful to the user, and does not put others at a great risk. All it does is change body chemistry for a short amount of time. Why should a toxin like alcohol be legal, while a harmless plant is illegal?
…That being said you must also look at it from a law enforcement point of view. Each year police convict thousands of people of marijuana related crimes, which is very good for business in relation to the police force. Law enforcement makes money whenever they convict someone of a crime, and marijuana users are an easy target. If marijuana becomes legal, law enforcement would take a big hit because they can not make money from convicting people of marijuana crimes.
in conclusion, marijuana is illegal for the wrong reasons, and the people need to come together to stop unjust laws.
