california marijuana question: what if i’m in a car with people who have prescriptions but I don’t have one?
I am taking a road trip upstate with people who have medical marijuana prescriptions and will almost certainly be bringing them along for the trip.
What risk do I, as someone who doesn’t have a prescription (and also, a green card holder/non-citizen), riding in the car with them?
What if it’s my car and I’m the one driving? I obviously won’t be partaking at all either way, but was concerned about being in the presence of it.
If you are not in possession of, or using, the stuff, then you have no problem.
You won’t be in a car with anyone who has a prescription for marijuana. There’s no such thing as a prescription for marijuana. A doctor may recommend marijuana in writing or verbally, but a doctor cannot prescribe it.
It’s not possible to answer your question without knowing how much marijuana will be in the car. if your friends are bringing 100 pounds of marijuana for this road trip, you’re probably all going to jail.
It’s also not possible to answer this question without knowing where the marijuana will be stored. If there’s a pound in your luggage, you’re probably going to jail.
If you don’t have any, and your friends bring a reasonable amount of medical marijuana with them for the trip, it’s likely that nothing will happen to you. And for anything to happen anyway, you first have to come into contact with the police.
