tobacco and alcohol are just two other gateway drugs. these and marijuana are called gateway because they get you used to the feeling of using a week drug until you eventually want more.

I love marijuana but personally Id have to say it is, every time I did weed I wanted to do stronger stuff I’d never do coke, heroin, meth or anything I just moved to stronger entheogens. For me other went: alcohol, weed, shrooms, salvia, LSD, mescaline, and DMT. Thats it, no one has ever ODed on half that, can’t OD on weed, salvia, or DMT. Just my opinion
Marijuana isn’t a gateway drug, that was just an old piece of propaganda, alcohol and tobacco are more gateway drugs because they are used at night clubs, concerts, bars, coffee houses (sorry, it’s true) and other places where other people also use illegal substances because using them have the same goal, to get messed up, eventually, some people start mingling with the illegal drug users, some then, get curious when the find out other people are on something else, ask to try a dose, and then, either it’s a bad memory or it’s enjoyable and they start taking it again.
I have associated with users of illicit substances before (won’t go into how, don’t ask) and I’ve found that those who did upgrade from marijuana to something more powerful like shrooms or LSD, coke, heroin, etc. intended to do so in the first place and just used marijuana, being a mild stimulant, mild depressant, and mild hallucinogen, and being non-addictive (physically) to sort of “dip their feet in the water” and see if they liked how drugs felt, then when they found it enjoyable and became comfortable with the feeling of being in those three states, they “swam out into the deep end” and did the drugs they originally wanted to do, that is the only sense I know of the whole “gateway” theory being true for marijuana
