Is my drug paraphernalia charge going to ruin my future career?
The police raided my house very early this morning. I’m still shaking. I don’t smoke marijuana anymore, but I used to in the past. They found a vaporizer in my room, took it, and charged me with drug paraphernalia. The legal system in this county is literally the strictest I know of. I am a straight A student and I’m studying to be a pharmacist. If the charge does get pressed, will I not be let into pharmacy school? I’m going to apply to the most prestigious school in my area. Do you think they won’t want me there if they see my background? (Because a pharmacist is a drug distributor…). Another question: any way to drop that charge? Another thing, I don’t see how they obtained legal evidence of this…but they wouldn’t tell me how they obtained the warrant.
That was only part of what they found. They found so much more stuff (which wasn’t mine) it’s not even funny. The list of things they took is a page long
And yes, they found everything that was listed on the search warrant. Again, most of it wasn’t mine, but I’m worried about the one thing that I WAS charged with.
Yes u might as well go work for mcdonalds now
Rachael.: While the charge is not monumental it does have a significant potential to your future. For this reason alone I would suggest you get a laywer to so some inquiries and initial representation.
You should have received a copy of the search warrant. That tells you what they were looking for and will give you a clue of what they EXPECTED to find. It sounds like they were disapointed and that the vaporizer/bong was the best they could do.
Your lawyer may be able to simply get the charge dropped if he challenges their expectations against what they actually found. But for that you need a pro…
,
you got caught and all you can do is claim it was not yours and you don’t do drugs anymore….
if they got a warrant for your home they had a reason and provided the court evidence of such..
if you want to get a job after school (assuming you are ever accepted into a pharmacy program) you better retain legal counsel and get this all dismissed…. because even with a degree you will never get your license or most importantly a JOB with a criminal record that involves any type of drug conviction (misdemeanor or felony will not matter to any employer in the pharmacy business)….
For being a pharmacist, probably yes.
If it is your house the arguemnt it is not your drugs is not going to cut it. If it really did come down to the vaporizer and nothing else, there would be a good chance they would drop it if you appealed to the prosecutor’s better side.
If this became an issue with the school then it could be a problem. Still there is room for hope. You seem to be saying you were only charged with the vaporizer. If you are lucky that could be an infraction or dropped to an infraction, which would be a fine and no record.
You are screwed. Seriouly. Kiss Pharmacy goodbye.
