Licensed Pharm Tech in Cali with a misdemeanor?
I want to be a licensed Pharmacy Technician in California. I’m taking classes and acing all my material but it occurred to me half way through my course that I have an expunged misdemeanor or marijuana possession that’s over 10 years old. I was a teenager then. People make mistakes. In theory it’s either sealed or destroyed. Will it still be held against me? Am I still able to be licensed, or am I wasting my money on course for a career I can no longer pursue?
Contact your State Board of Pharmacy (they deal with licenses) and ask them. It’s better to be upfront about ANYTHING that might present a problem rather than hoping they will not notice it.
In Vermont (where I am licensed), they only take into consideration any legal issues within the last 7 years. California may be very different, I can’t say.
