What did you expect? he lied
i don’t know.i thought that was his get the democrats out to vote plan
0bama is nuts. He sues Arizona for following Federal laws. And is going to chase down pot heads?
Give me a break.
Because potheads don’t work, and if you’re not working, he can’t tax you.
Do you really expect the Obama regime to prosecute drug laws more vigorously than they do immigration laws?
lp
Obama is throwing everyone under the bus.
He is hinting at cutting off federal funding, which would mainly hit our engineering sector down here. As to why, the best I can give you is an article
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE69F03V20101016
When did he say he was going to do that?
I don’t think he really does. One reason pot is still illegal, in fact why it was banned in the first place, is that no politician wants to be bashed for being ‘soft on drugs’, so instead they compete to outdo each other at being ‘tough on drugs’.
I know Republicans hate Obama like poison, but if the guy has one real fault it’s in compromising, trying to please everyone, giving too much away. He announced years ago that he wouldn’t use scarce federal law enforcement resources chasing medical pot users in states that have legalized medical marijuana. Of course Republicans interpret this as “I love pot and I encourage everyone to try it, even three year olds, ‘cos it leads to heroin addiction and I like that too.”
So now he feels he has to posture anti-legalization. Like that would appease the Republicans. 8^< If pot is ever going to be legal again, it won't come from the top down, from politicians and state or federal legislatures or the courts. It will come up from below, from the citizens. All REAL change happens this way anyhow. That's how several states have legalized medical pot, and if 'recreational' pot is ever legalized, that's how it will happen. As we're doing here in California. If we were smart we'd let California legalize pot and see how it shakes out (so to speak). See if there's a huge spike in DUIs, in teenage pregnancy, in narcotic addiction because of the 'gateway effect', etc. etc., all those bad effects we were told to expect. I don't expect there to be any problems. But the anti-drug forces don't want to see marijuana proven safe.
It’s not personal.
Or maybe it is.
Marijuana, even as a prescription drug, is still against the Federal law. And Obama is the President of the Nation.
As a matter of policy, Obama is not a “States’ Rights” man. He wants the Federal government in control, not only of drug policy, but everything else too, from what kind of vehicle you can drive to what children will learn in school to what doctor you can go to and what methods s/he can use to treat your illness.
The Justice Department is simply stating that they will enforce Federal laws.
California hasn’t figured out that they are bound to be invaded by people who realize that the “long and dangerous” part of the operation (the growing) will be legal in California.
And then all they need to do is some quick smuggling via private plane to the other mainland states for a humongous profit.
They are looking at minimizing production costs and maximizing profit.
History. Look at how many people are in prison for pot. Not to mention those that may have died in there while serving sentences. Too much to answer for.
He must really like you guys.
