The problem is if you buy it you can get arrested and in many states lose your license.
1. If you want to keep it away from minors, legalize it. This may seem counter-intuitive, but when I was in high school my friends who drank had trouble getting alcohol, the ones who smoked pot never had trouble finding that. Drug dealers don’t ID, they just want their cash.
2. Secondly, keeping it illegal provides a means of income for organized criminals. In a number of larger cities, the some people who sell pot are also the suppliers of harder of drugs. If pot were legal, then people wouldn’t buy it from them. They’d go to the nearest legal dispensary and they’d buy it from legal vendors. It would also help with the drug wars in Mexico and around the border, and other coastal states. These people are here because American’s are buying their product, if it was legal they wouldn’t be.
If you believe that marijuana should be legal, why is it being illegal a problem? Is that really the question?
Easy answer: because those who use marijuana don’t want to have to run the risk of being arrested, fined, and jailed every single time they want to smoke / eat / ingest their drug of choice.

1.35,000 people have died in mexico due to drug cartels…more than 2/3rds of the cartels money comes from marijuana sells…cartels control Mexico as of 2011…
if marijuana is legalized the cartels lose more than 2/3s of the money..
everyday people die in mexico because of the cartels…
2.marijuana does not cause addiction like cigarettes and they are legal and they kill hundreds of thousands every year.marijuana does not kill…every known drug has as an LD50..marijuana doesnt…
3.the dea is always goin after marijuana sells every year and wasting billions…why waste time on a drug thats less harmful than the legal ones..wen they can go and get heroin and cocaine dealers?
4.marijuana does not lead to other drugs..it doesnt kill brain cells..the study was performed on monkeys that were giving thc smoke for days..eventually the lack of Oxygen to their brains killed many brain cells..
5.during reagans term a scientist asked his administration that unlike heroin, cocaine, meth, and alcohol..marijuana showed no damage to anything and did less damage than cigarettes wen smoked..but reagan did not care…
also marijuana does not cause impairment like alcohol and other drugs…
u have 100% control of ur actions and its not a psychedelic like LSD or DMT so the hallucination stories are false…
well 1..there are drug cartels for weed. People are getting killed. Weed legalized would mean there is no point in drug cartels for weed anymore. no money to be made.
2. people are loosing their jobs and chances at life just because they possesed relatively harmless dried plant matter.
3. If weed is legalized, we wont have drug dealers pushing other hard drugs on people. If you could go to the gas station and buy some weed over the counter, you get weed. You go to a dealer and he can push crack or heroin on you. this takes away the gateway theory of weed. Also there would be no chance of marijuana being laced if it was legal.
4. Less kids smoking. If you have dealers starting to open up shops they will be able to freely sell to people 18+ and wont sell to kids because it will get them in trouble.
The biggest problem here is that the illegal trafficking of marijuana becomes profitable. Drug cartels and gangs use violence and illegal means to get past the enforcement of this prohibition (Police and Drug Bureaus).
The U.S. is spending $15 billion dollars a year on the war on drugs. Much of this can be attributed to the prosecution and incarceration of minor offenders caught in possession of marijuana. By making marijuana a legal, taxed, and regulated product, it will result in a sharp decrease in drug related crime and a sharp increase in government income.
First off, weed is natural and way better for you than alcohol, but that is legal and pot is not. It should be your own decision because the only downside of weed is smoking it. It is a not bad drug and people get in so much trouble for it, the police should be looking for heroin dealers and murders. Real criminals, not 15 year old kids that smoke pot. The government would make so much money by controlling and taxing, it and it would no longer be a problem. You never hear about people dying from marijuana, but many people die from alcohol and tobacco and those are still legal killing many people everyday. Marijuana is used for medical needs right now, you never hear doctors prescribing alcohol, because it is not good for you! Marijuana is great and it is an outrage that it is not legal in the United States!
money that could go to healthcare and schools is being wasted on prisons and criminal activity. legalize it and these problems are ELIMINATED
also, people with cancer on chemio can have a better life by actually being able to eat, and not feel just pain. and studies show this can actually prolong a cancer patient’s life.
