I recnetly purchased a wooden box electric vaporizer and when I use it my herbs always start burning after a few pulls. So I tried turning it down to a much lower temperature and the same problem continues to persist.. Does it sound like I still have it turned up to high?? Or could there be something else wrong?

It could be defective, try taking it back to the store (if you bought it from a store) and ask for directions and tell them the problems your having.
