Was it ever Native Americans custom to smoke marijuana?
I’m just wondering because I know the relationship between Native Americans and Cannabis sativa because I know they had a strong bond with tabacco, but I remember watching a video saying that Jamestown had pot farms, and it was legal. The high you get from pot also sounds like it could lead to some good folk stories and legends, even music.
so what exactly is peyote?
LOL, it was used in some ceremonies, but not abused.
Likely yes…though I think they prefer peyote.
No , it was Peyote for ceremonial cleansing and purposes!
That video said that Jamestown grew hemp not pot.
The hemp trade was big business and King James mandated hemp be grown in the New World. North American natives did not have Cannabis Sativa – they had American water hemp which is not the same at all! The sacred weed is tobacco.
No, Native Americans never smoked marijuana, its another hollywood idiots made-up BS… All the low class uneducated people believe the peace pipe contains weed, it does not! The pipe is considered sacred and is only used for tobacco. Peyote is not weed and is used only by a handful of Natives.
no. another stereotype that’s just as bad as the “all indians are alcoholics” one.
in fact for many native nations it is against our beliefs to use anything that alters the mind.
