Whey do people in California want to legalize marijuana?
In November California is having a vote to decide if they want to legalize marijuana. They want to make it legal for people who have serious illnesses such as cancer, prognosis and chemo. It seems to me that this will only make kids think its ok to take marijuana. And it might even make them want to go out and catch one of these illnesses just so they can buy drugs. Kids don’t realize that diseases like cancer can be fatal.
Why do they want to legalize it?
Because they want to get high and not be criminalized for it.
Why do they want to legalize it? Because, it helps people cope with serious illness like cancer. I don’t know when the last time you or someone you loved had cancer – it’s hell. Marijuana isn’t going to harm them, but it will at least make their quality of life much, much better than it would be without it.
Also, concerning the kids, I know a lot of people out there are stupid, but I’m going to give them slightly more credit. That, and it’s kind of hard to ignore the fact that cancer is fatal.
the only that they can get it is by prescription only.it is not going to be legalize for evey one to take,just the onesthat have a serious illness or sickness.You must be under a doctor”s care to get.and you just take the amount that the prescription states,you run out of pills you will not be able to get a another refill.Think you need a prescription evey month to get them.people really suffer the pain with what they have,finally to be able to have something to helped them out with their pain.
They just wanna use it.
Marijuana is no more dangerous than many legal drugs. In fact, a-hole drunks cause a million times more damage than Cannabis smokers. Criminalizing it has created enormous wealth for violent drug dealers and the US spends a fortune on policing it with very little effect.
It’s actually inevitable that it will be legalized at some point because the US simply can’t afford not to.

Why shouldn’t they? There are too many laws out there restricting our freedoms. Good for California.

Alcohol is very dangerous to health & brain,why its legal?!
Why you can drink with no problem & another person go to jail for smoking a joint?

Marijuana has more benefeits than just extreme illnesses
Would you rather a bowl before bed, or a couple ambien?
Would you rather tylenol with codiene for you back ache after a hard days work, or a doobie?
Perscription drugs are killing people not the natural marijuana and it needs to be acessible for everyone so the drug companies can stop poisoning us
So they can tax it. This is very necessary, because California is bankrupt, and if they don’t find a way to raise money themselves – they might have to ask you for some.
I don’t smoke, but I definitely think it should be legal, provided that it is regulated like alcohol (no minors, and no driving). Ask any teenager – right now it’s way easier to obtain pot than beer. Why? Because alcohol is strictly regulated.
It makes absolutely no sense that cannabis is illegal while alcohol and tobacco (both of which are MORE harmful and MORE addictive) are legal.
Legalization would:
– Create thousands of (legal, income-tax paying) jobs
– Devastate drug cartels, which would suddenly be without their most profitable product (and 75% of their income)
– Provide an enormous windfall for the government, which would bring in billions in taxes and SAVE billions more on law enforcement (ending Prohibition played a big part in getting the U.S. out of the Great Depression)
– Allow police, courts and prisons to focus their resources on DANGEROUS criminals, rather than harmless potheads
The more taxes the pot smokers have to pay, the less the rest of us will have to pay – everybody wins!
OK a few problemos here:
1. Its already legal for the sick people. They are voting to make it legal for everyone and taxable
2. I think you need to look up the definitions for “prognosis” and “chemo” They are not diseases
3. You can’t “go out and catch” cancer

Medical marijuana is already legal in California for those illnesses you mentioned.
What the law would do is legalize the purchase of 1 oz of marijuana and you must be over 21, a lot like buying cigarettes. Marijuana is California’s biggest cash crop and the state wants to tax it for badly needed revenue.
You sound very uneducated towards this subject. Legalizing canabis would be one of the best decisions a state in such debt could make.
